Classic Blancs de Noirs Brut Champagne Pinot Noir

Going a few months back from memory so no detailed tasting notes - inviting #champagne with some richer toasted notes, almonds and much more than expected layers. — a year ago

Roussette de Savoie Altesse 2016

Delicious. Fairly big for a Savoie White. This has a mid palate umami thing going on. Minerally. A bit of bitter on the finish. 13% abv. — 6 years ago

Domaine Rougeot

Combe Bazin St. Romain Chardonnay 2023

Recommended by the caviste at Cave Petillance. Natural wine. As described, very drinkable young. Quite fruity but lovely and reined in by acidity. Definitely not a common burgundy. — 2 months ago

Bure Alto Ripasso della Valpolicella Classico Superiore Corvina Blend 2016

— 6 years ago

Noël Verset

Cornas Syrah 1998

What a special treat to have an entire flight dedicated to the one and only Noël Verset. All three wines were opened prior to dinner and serially enjoyed over the course of a few hours. Stylistically, all three wines were similar and most importantly, sound! The 1998 pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with ripe and slightly desiccated, wild red bramble berries, dried purple flowers, cracked black pepper, black olive, garrigue, spiced meat, coffee, old leather bound books, exotic eastern spices and inorganic earth and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Bro…this bottle left me speechless. It has all of the things I could possibly want in Cornas plus, it has the staying power of Barry White. For me, this was the wine of the flight (and WOTN), overshadowing the more heralded 1999 and giving more than the relatively demure 1992. Drink now through (???). This has the characteristics of an immortal. — 3 months ago

Château Bazin

Côtes du Marmandais Red Blend 2011

Vintage 2011 | In praise of the cooperatives ☺️ This wine from Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Abouriou was really hard when young. And now after 12 years it reveals its qualities: cherries and spices in smell, smooth velvety taste, very vibrant and still with tannins present. It gives joy. Paired with spaghetti garlic, anchovies and parsley. — 3 years ago

René Noël Legrand

René Noël Legrand Saumur-Champigny La Chaintrée

My kind of wine but I’m predictable. Medium ruby but starting to show age on the rim, day bright. Aromas of violets, GBP, un-spicy jalapeño, black plum, black berries, yet also tart red cherries and cranberries, forest floor, meat, leather. Sweet tobacco on the palate. Dry, medium plus acid, medium plus tannins, medium alcohol, medium minus body. I would personally drink this anytime but could be a perfect fall/winter pick with all of the complexity and warm tertiary aromas. Love. — 6 years ago

Blanc de Blancs Fût de Chêne Premier Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Disgorged June 2017. Has nice brioche and spice notes that interplay with lemon peel, pear and green apple fruit. Palate has a lush quality seems to be from the barrel aging. Superb length and gains complexity as it sees air and warms a touch. — 7 years ago
