Sixpoint Brewery

Cosmic Handshake

Yellow watermelon orange, border of opacity. Loose, bright, white foam. Suddenly enough, none, but fast and oily brain grooves and amorphous blob-people trace out the forlorn and droopy lacings. Cheer up! The nose is full of concentrated tangerine zest, with look-alive lime, and lemon scented sunshine glinting off of shattered space debris. There is something so ‘dessicated lemon’ here, with a lambic-balsam edge, but also gasoline and lemongrass-white pepper. Anomalistic. Tasty sour pear, grapefruit, and funky golden plum all burst in sour unison, leaving pineapple to prickle amidst the pieces, and apricot shows ripely, timely and dedicatedly sweet, perhaps even slightly dried. Really amazing and complex, seamless without becoming divergent or clunky. Sour NE style double ipa... looking forward to the imperial version, should one materialize. #sixpoint #sixpointbrewing #sixpointbrewery #sixpointcosmichandshake #sourale #sour #sourbeer #souripa #ipa #indiapaleale #newenglandipa #sournewenglanddipa #dipa #beer #bier #biere #birra #cerveza #cerveja #abv #dap #intergalactichighfive #collab #collaborationbeer #victorybrewing #twoworldscollide — 17 days ago

Bloomer Creek Vineyard

Skin Fermented Pet Nat Gewürztraminer 2019

Roses. I missed this bouquet note in my first bottle, but this feels like a rose petal avalanche. Leafy greens of peppery kale and candied apricots and sweet sweet plums.

Oh man, feels like the sun gods pouring a life giving nectar from the skies. Nectarines and citrus notes blend seamlessly with a wave of sage, coated between murmurations of, again, rose.

Wonderfully bubbly. Wonderfully delicious. A favorite this summer.

Thanks for the friends and fam discount, Bloomer Creek!

Sounds awesome. Where’d you get this?

@Eric S A few of the local wine shops in New York like Astor Wine and Some Good Wine carry select Bloomer Creek offerings in their New York section. I tried a skin contact Riesling from them once and fell in love, so contacted the producer directly and ordered a dozen of their bottles mixing and matching to try their summer line. This is by far the standout!

Lamoreaux Landing

Finger Lakes Dry Riesling 2013

Not too rich but has the flinty character from FLX. Very drinkable but a bit lacking in character. — 3 days ago

Held up ok? Feel like the aging improved it or hurt it? I generally prefer LL dry reds over their whites.

It was 2018. I did not realize Delectable said it was 2013.

Brooklyn Kura

Dry Hopped Limited Release Junmai Ginjo

This is the limited release, dry hopped, junmai ginjo saké with 5 grams residual sugar. Made in Brooklyn.

A very faint blush and a tropical IPA nose this is an incredibly refreshing sake. Medium bodied with stone fruit and melon rind. Went great with salmon sashimi, chicken teriyaki, and stir fried vegetables.

Ravines Wine Cellars

Finger Lakes Pinot Noir 2013

Nose has dried grape vines, tobacco, ripe cherry, moist soil, wet leather, tree bark and horse stall. (Somewhat reminiscent of young Fixin or Nuits-S-G, being honest, good things to associate.)

Palate has ripe cherry, vine bark, tart cherry, dried blackberry, tar, (minor) bitter herbs (anise & fennel bulb), muddy potting soil with slight tannins on the long finish. I'd love to revisit this wine in 10+ years as it would likely be just stellar, it has all the structure to get it there, from proper storage. Future bottles may be 2028-30+. Decanted 4H.

$24 direct from the winery cellar, to our cellar, to our glasses tonight. Being in the wine club has good benefits. 👌

Argetsinger Vineyard Dry Riesling 2016

Truncated notes because crazy dinner at my brother’s with 6 dogs and more humans and frantic attempts to remember to properly distance.

This dry Riesling had great balance and depth. Finger Lakes at their best.

Go Finger Lakes wines! Woohoo!

Kontokosta Winery

Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Bae and I went to Kontakosta Vineyard when we stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast beach house minutes within walking distance of the place.

We visited three vineyards, and this one tucked away at the very edge of a large lawn leading up to the shoreline had expansive views of the Atlantic. Just a memorable, scenic experience smacking of adventure, tranquility, and wonderful wine.

Had saved this for a year and the vintage is 2018, so it’s right at the recommended two year mark for Sauvignon Blanc.

Soon as I popped open the bottle, the fragrance just wafted into the air — strong Meyer lemons, grapefruit zest, pine resin, and a woodsy appeal.

Lemon peel open up to a flowery sweetness, pine, and a slight buttery mouthfeel.

Reading into it, I’m getting a honey quality that texturizes and coats every sip.

Cannot wait to go back to make new memories and pick up the other bottles in their lineup.

Ravines Wine Cellars

Finger Lakes Chardonnay 2013

Nose has grilled lemons, lemon buttercream, lime zest, distant brown butter, orange zest, dried apricot and (minor) struck flint.

Palate has dried lemon peel, pineapple core, buttercream, toasted walnuts, warm banana with faint sweetness on the very long finish with medium acidity. A great wine, decanted 4H and will appreciate at least another 3-4H of opening. Future bottles may be 2024-26+. Very good now, maybe one of the best FLX Chardonnay's I've experienced.

Partial Appassimento method for a portion of the grapes, really yields some extra character and depth to the wine. Only guy doing this in the FLX, Morten Hallgren, to the best of my knowledge. I'm coming to the altar here, it's the right way to handle his Chardonnay style. 👍

White Springs Vineyard Dry Riesling 2017

Nose has lime zest, lime juice, green hay, wet granite/limestone pebbles, oxidized green apple peel, polyethylene tubing and tangerine peel. (Quite a Silvaner-like nose.)

Palate has Key lime flesh, cold tangerine slice, apricot skin, wet-pulverized limestone, lemongrass, tangerine zest, (minor) dried apricot and light honey on the medium finish, medium acid, great balance.

Decanted 3H, double-decanted into the bottle, then cooled for service.
