Boundary Breaks Vineyard

Ovid Line North Medium Dry Riesling 2016

Nose has dried orange, light petrol, very over ripe peach, orange zest, nectarine and faint vinyl.

Palate has sweet dried peach slice, candied pineapple, ripe nectarine, lemon zest with a medium+ finish. Really starting to develop nicely...and of course, our last bottle on the vintage.

Generally these should hold a minimum of +10Y.
(We do have some other older vintages we're waiting out.) What a fantastic wine tonight!

Paired to sweet chilli chicken thighs (Dorie Greenspan, an absolute favorite cookbook author) to really cut the sweet heat of the dish. This halbtrocken Finger Lakes Riesling was a perfect match!

Dry Classique Seneca Lake Riesling 2018

Bright and deep gold. Abundant and inviting nose of honeyed yellow apple and honeysuckle. Crisp medium palate yields those same elements with a hint of herb and peach pit. Firm, medium plus acidity and a juicy lingering finish. Among the best the Finger Lakes has to offer! Bone dry yet still aromatic and flavorful. Perfect match for seafood (crab cakes here) or poultry. Drink now through 2028. — 12 days ago

Pomme Sur Lie 2018

For the style … dry, round, funky and Sherry-like w/ sotolon aromas. Incredible. Glad I took the gamble on this one. Akin to a mildly sour beer. — 16 days ago

Finger Lakes Dry Riesling 2018

Nice job for a tough year. This is a blue collar Riesling. Dark brass color, earthy nose, with loads of petrol-like minerality and lots of dried apricot. Intense and relatively weighty in the mouth, it packs a good initial wallop of minerality, with a bit of fruit, in a bone dry framework. Good acids. Persistence on the finish is lacking a bit, but otherwise lots of character.I agree with a prior tasting note I saw that this — surprisingly for a young wine — tastes like a well-aged Spatlese Trocken. — 14 days ago

Argetsinger Vineyard Dry Riesling 2016

God in heaven. Weighty but somehow racy? Beyond mineral driven and possibly petrol-driven. Tart and lean and metallic and saline and also mouthwatering with just a little bit of honey on the finish. Just extraordinary. — 6 days ago

South Block Sawmill Creek Vineyards Riesling 2013

Lean and mineral driven, slight petrol notes with citrus and white pepper emerging on the finish. Penetrating acidity. — 4 days ago

Aglo Guarnaccia Malvasia Bianca 2016

Guarnaccia bianca and little( it says poca..)Malvasia bianca
Label says DANFORA
in fact it's aged in amphora
Very intriguing, definitely better when room temperature
The nose is complex and it goes from honey to beeswax, from herbs infusion to marzipan, from white plum to fermented ...grape...
It still smells of sea breeze that delivers the scents of thyme, sage and rosemary from the coastal slopes
It reminds me of the mushrooms too and of the forest you go foraging for them
It's quite mellow on the palate, perhaps not refined, but quite fullish and satisfying
Altogether I'd give it another go and i guess it would match well a huge diversity of dishes

Medium Dry Finger Lakes Riesling 2018

Nose: distinctly floral. Mild orange peel. Green apple (but the smell of a green apple, not the taste.). Honey. Taste: Tastes about like it smells, gently floral with honey and mild citrus, some darker berry-like fruit (unusual for a white wine!), pomegranate (?), medium dry as described. Good stuff. 89. — a day ago

Finger Lake Pinot Gris 2017

True to varietal, nice to try the component parts to their field blend wine, quite an enjoyable bottle. Stellar QPR at ~$14 from the wine club. — 20 days ago
