Evenstad Reserve Dundee Hills Chardonnay

The somm at Spago Las Vegas recommended this to go with poached halibut. Nice choice. Minerally, not oaky. A bit of citrus “surprise”. — 2 months ago

Evenstad Reserve Dundee Hills Brut Rosé

Pale salmon in color.

Strong nose of strawberries, citrus, limes, green apples, yeast, spices, brioche, sea salt and minerals.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and large bubbles.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, pomegranates, limes, light earth, herbs, minerals and sea salt.

Tangy finish with limes and almonds.

This is a tasty and easy drinking Sparking Rosé from Oregon. Tangy and salty.

Feels like it needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years.

Good by itself or with food, and will pair nicely with fresh seafood.

A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Aged on the lees for 3 years. Disgorged in 2023.

12.2% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$100.

Loved this for its bright, shimmering presentation and accessibility. So well balanced with notes of Asian spice, cedar and a hint of cola. Good acid and tannin structure suggest another wine which is destined to further improve with time. — 5 years ago

Evenstad Reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021

Ruby in color with medium intensity and a wide reddish rim.

Fresh red berries on the nose and medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing fresh cherries, sweet raspberries, light wood, tobacco, black pepper, chocolates, spices, light earth and herbs.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This young Pinot Noir from Oregon is starting to drink nicely now, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Rich and fruity, smooth and spicy. Nicely balanced and complex, soft and elegant.

I've had a few vintages of this Pinot Noir and it is so much better with age. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Wine Enthusiasts 93 points. Robert Parker 93 points. Wine Spectator 92 points.

A good quality wine. Good right out of the bottle, and better with some airtime.

Interesting, easy drinking and a good sipping wine.

Pinot Noir grapes were aged in (55% new) French oak barrels for 16 months.

14.1% alcohol by volume.

Grace & ken Evenstad Commemorative Cuvee Red Blend 2018

I like Pinot Noir but I would not ever rate an Oregon Pinot Noir above a 9.1. This is just so good. Very nice berry notes, including blueberry. Great finish and actually has a tiny bit of tannin to cleanse the pallet. This one needs to be in your go to “friends are over for dinner”, stash. — 4 years ago

My fave village in Burgundy, and this didn’t suck. Quintessential burg with that signature French oak nose. Hints of cola and nutmeg on the mid palate. Very modern presentation with cherry jam and medium acids. Let this rest for a while. — 5 years ago

Mark Bradford Vineyard Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2015

The Mark Bradford Vineyard has high elevation plantings to Pinot Noir and was the first vineyard planted by Grace and Ken Evenstad, aptly named after their son. Showing a deep core, the wine begins with intense aromas that instantly excite. Red cherry cola, cigar ash, peat moss, blood orange zest and pomegranate seed aromas all come to mind. There is a beautiful, seamless quality to this wine, as it effortlessly glides across the mid-palate. Wild strawberry, red cherry candy, black tea, cranberry, pomegranate and peat moss flavors all combine marvelously leading up to the finish. While this possesses notable weight, there is also a striking elegance. Surprisingly open and accessible, this is another stunning Pinot Noir from Domaine Serene and talanted winemaker, Michael Fay. 9.4

Nose shows baked apple, citrus blossom, hazelnut, hint of white floral, and crushed stone. The rich palate is framed by racy acidity, with a dense mid-palate weight. Pronounced minerality on the long finish.

A young Corton-Charlemagne of tension and power. Time will be kind.

We were unaware that Serene made a bubbly in the US. Well behaved in the glass with biscotti on the nose. Palate displays roasted nuts and a sliver of grapefruit. Bubbles are energetic, but not distracting. Brut dosage gives this a moderate sweetness, which helps amplify a lifted finish. Overall, a good assembly. — 5 years ago

Monogram Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2014

Monogram is a project initially started by Domaine Serene owner Ken Evenstad and the 2014 version is a simply breath-taking release. The Monogram is a limited production wine that is a barrel selection of what Ken and winemaker Michael Fay consider to be the choicest of lots. The wine is massive and brooding on the palate, showing a wonderful combination of dark and red fruits alongside wonderful earthy nuance —black truffle and peat moss — which all come into play. The wine finishes exceedingly long with dark fruits and minerals lingering on the stunning finish. This is a simply marvelous Pinot Noir which has the potential to evolve for decades.
