Le Mesnil Sur-Oger Champagne Blend Rosé

An impressively attractive salmon colored robe with lively effervescence. The nose is amazing. Just the right amount of everything good. Red apples and underripe cherries for days. There’s an undercurrent of spice throughout this champagne starting here that’s positively lovely. Peaches and pastries, along with a touch of smoke.

Predominately Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs with a smattering of Pinot Noir. In the world of non vintage rosé champagnes, this stands near the top. Elegant and dry, there’s outstanding balance here and it improves in the glass over time. Restrained red fruit on the palate with some citrus peeking through. More spice on the long finish that leaves you wanting more. A superb champagne.

8.9

Aromas of brioche, green apple, peach, and ginger ale. Fine mousse but a bit aggressive. Intense palate with fresh acidity and a crisp finish.
Nice bubbles though lacking a bit refinement.

$50. Not a bad price at all for a Grand Cru bottling.

Delamotte

Le Mesnil Sur Oger Grand Cru Brut Champagne Blend 1760

Blend of 55% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier, pale lemon color with aromas of citrus, floral and biscuit notes, fine bubbles and light mousse, on extended lees aging. On the palate flavors of crisp apples, peach and lemon notes, savory mineral, complex. Long ending with fruit and slight toasty biscuit character. — 2 months ago
