Knight Black Horse

Sailor Seeks Horse

Tasmania Pinot Noir 2022

Certainly in the conversation as to the quirkiest producer name. From the d’Entrecasteaux Peninsula south of Hobart where there are other big names in Tassie Pinot like Home Hill Estate. No specific notes but these wines have that trademark voluminous mouth feel you get from this terroir - surprisingly for the cool/cold climate. Red and black fruits. Delicious is an overused descriptor but there is no other word to describe this. — a month ago

@Bob McDonald there’s an interesting back story written by the vineyard owners about the name “There was a handwritten sign on the wall at the Red Velvet Lounge in Cygnet, our local coffee and cake respite from the Tasmanian weather. It said, “Sailor Seeks Horse” and went on to explain that the author had sailed solo around the world and ridden across the US from coast to coast and back again. On a mule. He’d then decided he wanted to travel around Tasmania by horse but didn’t have one. So, was there anyone who would lend him one? If they didn’t have a horse then a pony would do.”
Actually Bernie Herberts couldn’t acquire a four legged friend and bought a $10 bike at the local tip and rode it around Tasmania. Bernie has written a number of books about his travels.

One of the best Sorella I have had. Tannins and acid unwinding with primary black and red fruit still showing side by side with dried versions. Fig tar cedar vanilla leather menthol and violet all swirling around. Won't get better than it is now and it's gorgeous. — 7 months ago
