Sous la Cabotte Savigny-lès-Beaune Pinot Noir 2020

2020 vintage. Last tasted 2.10.23 (9.2). Dropped a shade of body but still bringing plenty of intensity for the money. Watch this producer. 9.4.24. — 3 days ago

Mas des Capitelles Vieilles Vignes Faugères Red Blend 2021

Red to dark red fruits, cherry, raspberry and pomegranate, garrigue, and singed black schiste stone/mineral notes, lavender florals too. The palate is medium bodied, with intense flavors that are lightning it's feet. I am a fan of Faugeres wines and it's rare for me to try a new one like this one. — a month ago

Either bottle variation or in a progressive age where the oak simply needs more time for integration, we'll see how future bottles present.

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2014

14 is such a great Chablis vintage. Super ripe sweet fruit buttressed by zippy acidity. Really good wine. — 7 days ago

Au Bas de Combe Vieilles Vignes Nuits St. Georges Pinot Noir 2010

Really impressive on opening. Tastes like a Pinot noir should. Cherries, rose, a bit of fern like hiking in CA redwood grove, there’s some strawberry, some dust, plum skin. Interestingly the aftertaste, maybe 20 seconds later suddenly has a sweetness to it that I really enjoy. Drinking really well now on opening. Grateful to try this. — 2 months ago

Does not lack acidity. Ripe fruit almost going too far but still enjoyable. — 5 days ago

Fourchaume Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2021 “Fourchaume” pours a straw color; medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is youthful with pineapple popsicle, lemon curd, and steely minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and refreshing. This is a beautifully balanced, elegant Chablis with intense minerality. It’s drinking well now but I expect it will be lovely well past 2031. @Lyle Fass we drank alongside the 2021 Tribute “Beauroy” and while both were very nice, this was preferred.

@Jay Kline I think it’s one of the great wines of Chablis these days. Love that Tribut but I think fourchaume also is a top 2-3 1er cru like MDT of Forest.

You can smell that 15 sunshine. Ripe pear, richness, minerals, but very 15 and somewhat chablis. Palate is delicious and rich with a tinge of warmth. Textured and soft but balanced. — 5 months ago
