Second bottle from this vintage. Much better experience this time. Last wasn’t bad and perhaps was just an off night/bottle. This Solaia was packing significant range and depth. Ruby with a rich bouquet of fruit, spices and floral notes, fruit from several vineyards, vinified and aged separately. On the palate flavors of cherry and raspberry with notes of pepper, cinnamon and floral. Long finish, nice balance with fine soft tannins ending with earthy notes. Quite light ruby , wide garnet , terracotta rim . Fruit forward , with red cherry , strawberry , rose , pomegranate with sweet spices , anis . On the palate lovely sweet cherry , strawberry , light red fruits , crunchy with quite fresh acidity . Polished and sweet , but very present tannins , this is still very young. Saline and sweet spice tinged finish , good length. This is drinking well, however is still very fruit driven and just improved throughout the evening . From now but will improve over the next 5-10 years and last well a further 10, especially in magnum. — 10 days ago

I think I preferred the 2015 but ever so slightly and as much as I struggle to believe glasses make a difference they poured the 2016 in a big cab glass and I think that distracted from the flavors that were evident in the tighter 2015 glass. — 17 days ago

Deep opaque purple. Vibrant smell of red berries and lavender. Full bodied but comes across as very ‘athletic’. Tannins and acidity are spot on and the wine leaves an impression of effortless presence and harmony. Impactful yet very refined. A tight rope walker, making it seem all so easy. Flirting with greatness yet so ephemeral. A wine that definitely leaves a vivid impression on your memory, like a painting. Bravo. 92+ (easily) — 2 days ago

This is now the “Trevie” @Delectable though it’s been called “Tre Vigne” in the past? Dark red fruits and fine grained tannins that are well balanced. Italian to the core. Hard to go wrong with this producer. 14.5% abv. but wears it well. — 17 days ago
