A bakeapple (cloudberry) wine from Newfoundland's Auk Island Winery. Sweet and a bit tart. — 8 years ago
Only after googling this wine I -oddly- came to know that terroir authority, saxophone player and owner Pedro Parra got inspiration from jazz record label Blue Note for this eye-catching wine label. But that's only the tip of the iceberg! A juicy, extremely refreshing, light-bodied red from Carignan and Malbec a.o, a multi blend that is different every year. My grandfather, a renowned local-drunk traveled every season to Cauquenes (a coastal, dry-farmed spot south of Santiago) to buy a number of demijohns for his own consumption, and I suspect that that wine tasted more or less like this. It's funny how young and iconoclasts winemakers are bringing Chile back to its roots by looking at the future. If you ever come across this wine don't think twice and buy a good number in the spirit of savvy drinkers like my grandad. @WineTraining @Dusan Bradanovich — 8 years ago
delicious, bright, light petnat recommended for me. i had it with the mussels, pork shoulder, market fish and iceberg salad - absolutely delicious. i had been drinking all day so my taste buds were shot but i want to try this again. it seems like a great night cap or wine for charcuterie. it’s versatile. — 2 years ago
Deep red - purple color, medium - heavy body. Nondecriptive nose. Bone dry, red fruit with boysenberry on the fore-palate with an “oh too light” peppery and spicy finish. Tim’s mature and well developed palate observed a hint of vanilla at very end of the finish, however it eluded me. Consistent throughout the bottle. 2014. Citrus pulp, tarragon, sea shells, pea tendrils, ginger, grapefruit peel, iceberg lettuce, hint of saline. Snapping acidity, light bodied, complex mineral driven texture, herbal/sea breeze slightly spritzy finish. Has that tense acid structure found in great Chablis. Biodynamic. — 8 years ago
Swirly-cloud, pear-from-syrup colored nectar boasting old-newspaper-“white”, frothy mallow-moon icing. Grapefruit candy meets ginger candy at the soft lemon foam; tenderness ensues. Spun sugar pith on sticks, lemon and orange marshmallows away gently in tangerine breezes. A frozen pineapple iceberg floats by, it’s head peeping innocently above the swirly floes. Damn refreshing frozen knife of summer. Stick with it. .

What a treat! Extremely powerful in its youth but that's what happens when you use 60%+ new French oak. Initially decanted this for 2 hours, but it ended up finally showing the tip of the iceberg at 3. The nose was enticing, showing spicy cedar, clove and cigar ash components, and brambley red fruits. The juice itself was dark purple and had long, slow moving legs, showing its high alcohol and concentration. The pallet exhibited notes of pomegranate seeds, tobacco, black pepper, black berries, smoke, vanilla extract, faint hints of dark chocolate powder and we'll integrated tannins tightly weaving all the complex layers together and producing a gripping finish. This juice needs much more time in the bottle, but was an absolute pleasure to experience now. Way to go David Tate! You're a heck of a wine maker!
