2022/8. I do think the great Etna reds are Italy’s Burgundies (if Burgundy was grown on a volcano in the Mediterranean)...perfume, flowery red fruit but with smokier, darker elements and that somehow autumnal thing that seems to run in many classic Italian reds (Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Nerello) — 2 years ago
!00% Nerello Mascalese, Single Contrada from a favorite Sicilian Producer. This isn’t the typical lighter, easy drinking Nerello. This has body, weight and complexity. Darker fruit: black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, smoke, with tannins and acidity. Definitely capable of aging but I have a hard time time not drinking them! — 8 months ago
It's austere, but that's why you bought a taurasi. Dried flowers, boysenberries, raspberries. Almost like an amarone. Well made; I think average score a tad low. Better than the 2016. — 2 years ago
First sips were disappointing in the brevity of the hit on the palate. Gave it an hour and it lengthened beautifully. This wine has a ton of fruit (crushed sweet red berries), velvety tannins, and great structure. I would be fascinated to see what 10+ years does to it — 3 years ago

Quite new world in style, but in a subtle way. Lots of flavorful nuances. Quite tannic at year 6, probably the most tannic Rioja I can remember. Time will be kind. — 13 days ago
