Opened yesterday, drank over 2 days.
The nose is very fruity and intense with dark cherry touches, earthy notes, some raspberry and blackberry scents too. I could even smell some peony notes too. This is really inviting. The palate is wide and long and quite complex. A good acid drive, some dark cherry notes all along, some very soft and easy going mouthfeel that is changing in mid palate with a great tannic wall, which adds a layer of dust over an otherwise quite juicy and fruity finish. In the back-end though, there is a tiny savoury note that pops along with a subtle bitterness. This is really my kind of cab franc. Really good stuff! — 2 years ago
a constellation of factors came together such that I opened this young bottle—recent acquisition of 6 more bottles, the memory of 1990 Comtes on release, a Galloni post on Delectable touting the wine, and a thirst for quality champagne.
Delicious and more open than 08 Dom today, it’s not real creamy but has super balance and drive, delicious fruit, very expansive on the palate as it warms. Each glass gets better. Sweet midpalate fruit that is dense but not weighty, incredible persistence on the palate, really a wow.

The gentle nose shows bright citrus, yellow peach, dried pear, and hint of crush nuts. On the palate it’s concentrated yet vibrant, with round acidity, spice and orange blossom, balanced by lively mineral drive and a long, lingering finish that meshes power with poise.
It’s bold and expressive, with a dynamic tension and savoury complexity that feels both immediate and age-worthy. At this young age, I like it better than the Art Series. — 5 months ago
After having the 2014 Clos just a couple weeks back, it was nice to be able to have the Preuses close in time and compare the two. Both equally as stunning in their own ways, the 2014 Preuses may be even more seamless at this point in time. Its energy and intensity radiate on the palate showing tremendous power and drive. There’s the craveable crushed oyster shell minerality and sea spray salinity that’s complimented with an intense citrusy fruit expression and a lemony acid spine. Opens up beautifully in the decanter over the course of the meal continuing to show how terrific the vintage was for Dauvissat and Chablis. Totally built for the long haul but fantastic now as well. — 5 years ago
The nose shows syrah usual traits : pepper, blackberry, there is even a bit of bacon in there! Definitely northern Rhone red. The palate is well balanced, there is a good acid drive in there, there is a bright fruit, some width, some matter, a good mouthfeel, lively tannins with a drying effect in mid palate and a long finish with fruit and pepper and that drying effect for quite a long time. I have been missing that wine for as long as we moved to Poland. I used to buy it from the grocery store downstairs back in Paris for 8 euro. I was so psyched to find it in the Wine shop downstairs here in Warsaw! As always, this is a solid CDR. — 6 years ago
Another great vintage of a terrific wine! The 2009 has aromas and flavors of blueberry, plums, cedar, cola, vanilla, black pepper and earth. Hint of menthol. Very complex. Smooth tannins and well balanced. Both varietals are integrated beautifully! Great with a steak! Solid QPR! Revisited in February 2020. Still excellent, but probably beginning to pass it’s peak. — 7 years ago
Ah! The prima ballerina of Rheinhessen. The precise footwork, elegant gait, and undeniable presence. Usually, she takes centre stage, but tonight, the queen of Nierstein has decided to make a forceful announcement during her grand performance - "I will dance instead, and you will love it!" :)
We thought that drinking the 17' Hipping first was a good idea. In hindsight, I'm not even sure why, especially given how the Abtserde was totally eclipsed by it. Nevertheless, the 14' Abtserde was still a great expression of riesling
For me, Absterde is usually the most filigreed and electric of KP's vineyards, but this time, it was showing a more breadth than the typically weightier Hipping. Very powerful with exotic fruits dominating, set on a backdrop of herbs and spice. Concentrated, but in the same vein as the 17' Hipping - new KP in my eyes. I can see why some would prefer KP's older vintages compared to this, which are seemingly more extracted. There's a mineral drive and acidity which really dances on the palate. Admittedly, this finishes a touch hot but nothing to detract from the sheer energy of this wine. It needs time to bring it more balance and finesse I feel. — 7 years ago
Almond, cherry, dried rose petals, leather... This is nice. There is a barnyard funk think too, which goes away after a while. The palate is very well done with a good acid drive, some nice cherry notes all along, a vivid mouthfeel, some drying tannins in the rear, some savoury touches blossom in the finish along with bright cherry notes and that dried layer. It's a very good effort, one of the best classico I have tasted recently, quite easy going. — 3 years ago
First take on the '20 vintage that we brought back to Poland after Christmas . Very intense nose of violets, blackberries, raspberries, cherry, licorice... There is a tiny earthy note too, along with an irony thing. The palate is very well made as always, with a great acid drive, a good width, some red and black fruits touches all along, some drying tannins in the rear and a long finish with fruit and a bit of an umami touch that makes you want to pour yourself another glass right away. It's a bit more complex than '19, with some more layers of texture and taste. I'm obviously partial here but for about 8 eur a bottle from the producer this is extremely great value. — 3 years ago
Rioja Blanco, not the Rose
K&L notes,
White Artadi? I am shocked that I didn't know that it existed, but I am so glad to know that it exists. This is everything that you would expect that it would be. This old vine Viura from Alavesa. It has the transparency that you expect for the winery, the palate is so expresive of the chalky soils of the region. This is not a traditional oaky oxidized white. This is a pure modern expresion of the varietal. Apples, citrus, drying floral notes and a dusty chalkiness. It is very fresh and the wine has the energy and drive that you come to expect from the reds. — 5 years ago

Easter pour 🐣. Happy Easter to all who celebrate. The nose is full of cherries, wild strawberries, leather, tar, delicate oak notes. The palate is showing a good acid drive, superb balance, nice cherry and wild strawberry notes all along, some width, a silky, soft texture that evolves toward the middle of the palate when tannins kick in. Tannins are caressing, slightly disrupting the mouthfeel instead of destroying it, adding only a layer of complexity over an otherwise silky and fruity finish. A tiny oaky, bitter note pops in the very end. It's very good 👍 — 2 months ago
