Lovely green pear & apricots, bright grapefruit acidity — 5 years ago
Pop and pour. A superb light golden straw color. On the nose: lemon, tart green apple, crushed rocks, little pear, and a touch of honey. Taste: elegant, creamy medium body wine with nectarine, minerals, lemon rind, apple, cinnamon and a spiced white peach decent finish. Cheers! — 5 years ago

EnRoute established in the RRV in 2007 by the partners of Far Niente. Les Pommiers introduced in May 2009 and reflects a blend of vineyards from Green Valley and upper Middle Reach area of RRV AVA. Complex fruit aromas, cedar and mineral notes. On the palate cherry and cranberry flavors with tobacco and toasty oak, rich structured tannins. Nice mouthfeel, zesty crisp acidity ending with fruit, mineral and oak character. Nice! Tasting Sample. — 7 years ago
Color of light gold with a touch of green hue. Nose is plenty with ripe banana, ripe pineapple, ripe peach, some green apple, some roasted nuts, and a bit of tangerine, feeling strength of alcohol also. Taste is dominated by subtle sweetness, zest, roasted nuts, mineral, and smooth acidity. Aftertaste is again more roasted nuts, grapefruit, lingering sweetness and acidity, clean and flavorful. Nice one. — 7 years ago

The Calling “Dutton Ranch” Chardonnay 2023
Russian River Valley AVA, Sonoma County, California – USA 🇺🇸
Overview
A very expressive and generously styled Chardonnay sourced from the legendary Dutton Ranch vineyards, one of Sonoma’s most respected grower sites. The Calling crafts this bottling with a fruit-driven and naturally energetic personality, allowing the vineyard character to shine through without excessive winemaking manipulation. A Russian River Chardonnay that leans vibrant and mouthwatering rather than overly buttery or heavy.
Aromas & Flavors
Juicy tangerine, lemon curd, Honeycrisp apple, and ripe pear immediately jump from the glass. As the wine opens, layers of lemon verbena, ginger, citrus zest, jasmine, and subtle green tea nuances begin to unfold, adding complexity and freshness to the profile.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with a rounded yet energetic texture. Bright acidity keeps the wine lively and refreshing while the fruit concentration gives it a generous California richness. The finish is persistent, citrus-driven, and beautifully mouthwatering.
Food Pairings
Excellent with roasted chicken, buttery seafood dishes, crab cakes, grilled salmon, creamy risotto, or triple cream cheeses.
Verdict
A compelling Russian River Chardonnay that balances generosity and freshness extremely well. The Dutton Ranch fruit gives this wine a very polished and expressive character while still maintaining tension and precision. Rich enough for California Chardonnay lovers, yet vibrant enough to remain highly approachable.
Did You Know?
Dutton Ranch is one of Sonoma’s most iconic multigenerational vineyard sources, supplying grapes to numerous top-tier California producers. Their cool-climate Russian River fruit is especially prized for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir thanks to the region’s fog influence and long growing season.
🍷 Personal Pick
This is the type of Chardonnay that reminds you why Russian River Valley became world famous for the style in the first place. Expressive, mouthwatering, and dangerously easy to revisit glass after glass. Cheers! — a month ago
Nice blend of aromas. Green apple, pear, white flowers and a touch of citrus. Same fruits on the pallet along with hints of almonds and yellow apple. Hint of salinity on the finish. Not buttery at all. Exceptional balance and complexity. Crisp and medium bodied. Thank You John P. — 5 years ago
Classic California Chardonnay fruit tones of pear and green apple with a creamy nectarine finish. Elegant like the label. Look forward to seeing how it opens up. Very nice🥰 — 6 years ago
Green apple, a hint of melon, somewhat tart on the finish. — 7 years ago
This magnum from Leeuwin estate Cab art series is a garnet in colour with the rims showing alight orange tinge showing the ripening of the wine. This seven year old vintage is “a point” in terms of ripening. Definitely not a Bordeaux style can but more of a Connewarre style Cab exhibits red cherry, raspberry and leather notes. In terms of length, 40-50 sec finish. Pairs beautifully with lamb (big green egg) roast. Beautiful! — 7 years ago
Though young and subdued the wine wakes with an hour in a decanter revealing white flower aromas, lemon, apple, subtle oak elements, white peach and light green herbs. Loads of minerality, crisp high acidity and a compact form that only becomes more opulent with time. A terrific wine. — 8 months ago
Pale straw . Lemon and lime with some petrol hints ,green herbs , white flower notes as well . Light bodied with high acidity , green apple , lime and grapefruit . Very fresh , high acidity , leaves the palate very fresh , lively . Touch of fresh green herbs on the ok length finish . Would prefer to leave this 2 or 3 years , just to fill out a little more in the bottle and will last well a further 10 or so . — 2 years ago
One of the few Chardonnays I really like very little oak and notes of green apple. — 6 years ago
Gorgeous when it was released in 2016. Sure am glad they re-released it. Still gorgeous. — 7 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
A blend from several vineyards, including Middle Reach, Green Valley, Santa Rosa Plain, and the Laguna Ridge area. Bright Ruby color, purple edges, with aromas of ripe fruits, floral and complex spice. On the palate concentrated flavors of raspberry, cherry and currants with pepper, tea, herbs, vanilla and oak, aged on French oak, soft tannins on well balanced structure. Full body, rich long finish, ending with spice, ripe fruit and oaky tones. Very Nice! — a day ago
