Noël Verset

Cornas Syrah 1990

Lovely aromatics of earth, smoke and redfruits, very solid core of dried red berry and super savory flavors, still great balancing acidity, a little less of the rustic notes in this one compared to the 1985 Verset from last Saturday, long, lingering finish, another great Verset Cornas!! — 11 days ago

La Turque Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2013

Tasting the 2013 La Las this was the weakest of the three. A good wine but not great and lacking in wow factor. Probably too young but more bla bla than la la at the moment. — a month ago

La Chavaroche Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2010

Still pretty tight. Tannic day one, fruity day two. Only a bit salty. Hold em. — 14 days ago

Explosive nose of black cherry, smoke, bacon fat, savory spices, dried herbs & violets. Great vintage for Jamet that is reaching full maturity — 2 days ago

Cornas Reynard (R) Syrah 2008

Another great one from the master that has an elegant, silky mouthfeel showing red & black fruit, savory spice with notes of glycerin, pepper, olive, blood & violets — a month ago

Domaine de Thalabert Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2015

From Magnum. Opened about an hour before dinner; enjoyed over the course of two days. Best after a couple of hours. The 2015 “Domaine de Thalabert”pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of tears and signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and desiccated fruit: blueberries, figs, lavender, Kalamata olive, leather, coffee, Bacon fat, spices, and organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This was pretty shy and awkward early but after significant air, it came alive. Lots of life left. Drink now through 2035. — 10 days ago
