Deep golden color with a citrus undertone and distinct minerality, if not oyster shells. Delightfully pleasant wine. — 2 months ago
Happy Anniversary Sofia. I miss you honey and will forever! Cortona calling. Cheers! 🍾🥂
I had this a few years ago and thought this needed another 3-4…apparently wasn’t wrong. Not as stellar as the 07. Starting come into its own. Golden apple, green apple, lime pulp, tropical melon, just ripe pineapple, ripe pear, vanillin, caramel, cream, sea spray, alluvial limestone minerals, beautiful mid grain chalkiness, brioche, baguette crust, nice, soft yeastiness, jasmine, yellow lilies, really nice acidity, well structured, balanced, delicious finish that lasts two-minutes. 🌹 — 7 months ago
A buddy brought out this bottle of 2010 Clos de la Coulée de Serrant to help toast a great achievement this past weekend. One can probably imagine my excitement as I’m a massive fan of these wines by Nicolas Joly. However, I feel compelled to admit that these wines are not for everyone. They vary wildly from one vintage to the next and there can often be quite a bit of bottle variation to boot. None of this has swayed me from my position; that these are amongst the most exciting, singular expressions of a place that I have ever experienced.
Popped and poured. The 2010 pours a deep golden color with medium+ viscosity and no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine is redolent of white tree flowers, desiccated apples and apricots with orange marmalade, honey, lanolin, marzipan and light clove. On the palate, the wine is dry with borderline high acid that is somewhat masked by the equally high alcohol (15%). Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and remarkably rich with wooly, unctuous texture. The high alcohol only becomes apparent as the finish lingers but there is so many other more fascinating things for me than to get distracted by it. Is it oxidative or not? That’s an argument that other people can have. I’m content to simply appreciate these wines for what they are. You can drink these now but knowing how these react favorably to air, it’s probably best to open it well in advance and probably even better to decant. Otherwise, I would expect sound, well-stored examples to live through 2040. — 18 days ago
2013 vintage. Overtly decadent, überripe and spent when tasting just after decanting. No sediment. Initial temp tasted was at about 60 degrees F. Rated an 8.8. Beyond golden color in the decanter. Prepared an ice bucket ice bath with double linen napkins atop the remaining ice and placed the decanter roughly 25% into the ice bath. Let sit for 20-25 mins. Retasted. Wine temp was closer to 45 degrees F. Completely different wine. Tasted like a top-notch, 10 year old Meursault with ridiculous amounts of vanilla bean and crème brûlée. Slight undercurrent of acidity wove the entire endeavor together. Now? A 9.4. Not my style but it didn't suck. 11.15.23. — 5 months ago

v19. This is really good! Soft white pepper and cedar nose. Fresh, deep, rich black fruit licorice. Tight, chewy, smooth, long, slightly astringent, dried herbal spice and mocha finish. Nicely balanced. — 3 months ago
A blend of a tad more Chardonnay than Pinot Noir, nice lemon yellow color with golden edges, aromas of fruit, spice and brioche notes, nice mousse and bubble flow. On the palate flavors of fresh fruit, peaches, pineapple and ripe lemon with hints of toasted nuts and citrus zest. Long finish ending with rich briny yeasty mineral character. Drinks well now but will go another 10+ years! — 8 months ago

Beautiful golden hue. Creamy, Wildflowers, grapefruit. Probably the best Viura on the market. Cheers — a month ago
