La Cerbaiola di Salvioni Giulio

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Mid crimson in colour. Dusty notes of dried cherries, balsamic notes. Well made with good balance from a very reputable producer. Medium plus bodied - fuller than the average Rosso. Ripe fruit from the excellent 2019 vintage finishing with fine powdery tannins. Overall excellent. I will enjoy the Brunello from Salvioni in many years to come. Expensive for a Rosso at $170AUD. — 7 days ago

Autinbej Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2022

Zach D
9.1

On the nose, lots of strawberry, tart cherry, roses, violets; hint of turned earth; on the palate, lots of primary fruit character. A range of tart cherry, dried strawberry, slight porcini; tannins are fine and dusty. Finish is decently long. — 25 days ago

Pas Dosé Alta Langa Brut Nature White Blend 2016

@Delectable Wine this is the Blanc de Noir*

One of Piedmont’s newest DOCs — for Metodo Classico wines from traditional French varieties. Why should Franciacorta & Trentodoc have all the fun? Great opener to one of best lunches / meals we had in Italy.

La Cerbaiola di Salvioni Giulio

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

Then 2013 Salvioni La Cerbaiola is drop dead Gorgeous in all aspects, including the deep, dark and dense ruby-red, garnet appearance, the fruit-laden, perfumed aromatics and flavors, as well as the well balanced structure of ample fruit, medium acidity, and gentle tannins at the long satisfying finish.

Overall, it’s medium/full, particularly elegant and vibrant, from a cooler than normal vintage that many described as a “return to classicism.” I’m unfamiliar with older vintages (prior to global warming) but this is MY style of Brunello. Refined, Classy and a Joy to swirl, sniff and savor.

Bric del Baio Langhe Nebbiolo 2022

The lovely colour of this Nebbiolo, which is ever so slightly pink, adds a great sense of occasion. The nose suggests jam and something like currant. The bouquet includes the flavour of a sweet red apple. The finish is long, with pepper and plum. — 6 months ago
