Sunday night and I have opened the 2016 Comando G La Bruja De Rozas Garnacha. 100% Garnacha from the Las Rozas de Puerto Real in the Sierra de Gredos near Madrid.

The nose has aromas of strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, licorice vanilla and earth.

The palate has wonderful red fruits of raspberry, cherry, strawberry, anise, cinnamon, a minerality and dusty earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth elegance, medium+ acidity and medium+ fine tannins that lead to a long fruit filled finish. For a village wine and the price this has blown me away. Have a great week ahead and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 7 years ago

Another 4th Friday for the books, and one of the best of the year!

I can’t remember if I got this at my winery visit last year or if this was another gift from the man himself, @Martin G Rivard , but I do know that I only know about Beau Vigne because of Martin! Either way, thank you!

If I had smelled and tasted this blind, I would have called this a Bevan Cabernet. It is an iron fist in a velvet glove. It’s explosive out of the glass with baked blackberry pie, blueberry, sandalwood and chocolate shavings. Expansive on the palate and you think it’s going to overpower you, but it tones everything down for a silky and velvet textured finish. The palate goes more dark red fruit and black fruit with toasted oak. This is a BIG wine, but it’s no doubt very delicious. — 8 years ago

Reductive, puristic, smoky and herby - already from the start. On the palate this shows brilliant balance between the vibrant, juicy acidity and golden delicious, ripe pear & melon and shy oak.
Yet behind all this there is this rough, smoky, mineral, wild edge that makes this really interesting and ask for a second glass. Better than the 2013 and drinking very nicely right now. — 6 years ago

Dark Ruby with a tawny rim. Savoury plum with earthy dusty notes on the nose. Trademark H of G silky palate with sweetness and a little barnyard - medium weight but with M plus intensity. Still on the plateau in its 27th year verging on its 28th. Easily Australia’s best single vineyard Shiraz bearing in mind that Penfolds Grange is multi regional. A lovely old Australian Shiraz with its ancient old vines - always delivers. I will drink my last one in the next 6 to 12 months. — 7 years ago
