Frog's Leap

Rutherford Merlot 2014

Drink your 2014 now with 1-2 hours of air. It is stunning. Preferably outside with dinner. Baking spice, purple flowers, leaves, plums on the nose. Palate is so complex and evolves a bunch. Tastes of herb garden with plums, dark berries, the slightest hint of woods and moss, more baking spice, great tannin and acidity. Super impressed. — 5 days ago

Hillside Select Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

Very dense and primary still. Dark plum, damson, blood, hint of minerality and menthol. Beautifully rich and smooth, real velvet on the palate. Good balance and long. If there’s a knock, it lacks a little in definition and wildness... all is subsumed in a smooth and rich ride. — 16 days ago

So good.

Cliff Lede Vineyards

Poetry Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

08’ Cliff Lede Poetry. These wines are among some of the most inviting wines on the nose. Blackberry fruit, raspberry sorbet, allspice, cinnamon, etc...
Palate - Blackberry, plum, Cassis, slight herbal notes. The fruit pushes more towards the front. It’s truly a beauty that’s come to full maturity now. Drink them up.

With steak - unbeatable. On its own, a little stiff, but pretty great. — 19 hours ago

Clos du Val

Stags Leap District Cabernet Franc 2017

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a gorgeous one from Napa.

Very dark ruby in color with a pretty reddish rim.

Beautiful nose of black currants, figs, vanilla, cedar, sweet strawberries, cooked cherries, licorice, eucalyptus, bell pepper, earth, mint, tobacco leaf, spices, vegetables, celery, pencil lead and black pepper.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cooked cherries, dried cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, light vegetables, graphite, vegetables and peppercorn

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley. Showing a gorgeous nose with great complexity.

Already very tasty, although still young. A little hot right now, but that will go away with proper aging.

Would be nice to revisit it in 6 years, and will age nicely in the next 20 years. Showing great potential to become a 97+ point wine, and already delicious by itself.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, show the tannins, and the beautiful nose, so be patient.

This Single Vineyard is so interesting and unique. Nicely balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.

Soft, yet powerful. Rich and extracted. Elegant, tangy and fruity.

A blend of 91% Cabernet Franc and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 20 month in (90% new) French Oak barrels. A very small production of only 18 barrels.

14.7% alcohol by volume.

94 points.

$120.

When Friday night starts right. Patio, Shake Shake, and a nice Cab. Deep dark color. Nice complexity. Expressive nose. Blue and black fruit, and a little cinnamon. Plush mouthfeel. Lengthy finish. No complaints here. — 17 days ago
