2019 edition. A little thin compared to prior years. Might be due to the relatively weak/disappointing 2019 KBS base. Nevertheless, the bourbon and maple syrup are both present and water nice. The alcohol is well balanced, it doesn't feel hot at all like other imperial stouts. — 7 years ago

Just the right wine for fried oysters, Italian salad, and a three mushroom pizza. — 5 years ago
Well first off the was the 2012 vintage Syrah not merlot. Its a decent wine, good body. Dry finish. The original price I believe is 38 dollars and for that price there are other alternative wines that provide more of an experience. However, if there you can find this wine for the mid 20 dollar range it would be very good price and well worth the money. — 6 years ago
V12. Outstanding. Mocha and licorice nose. Rich plum and black currant. Tight, leather finish. Nicely balanced — 6 years ago

2015 bottling. I don’t really drink stuff like this much anymore but this was very well made and delicious. — 8 years ago
Off-white cumulous clouds top a cloudy, nearly opaque cistern of Rich Amber. The lacing menaces like zombie fingers before succumbing to the murky cauldron; sparse bubble implore like confused eyes, disembodied. Tropical notes of rum cake and pineapple-banana cream with a suggestion of cocoanut turn cedar and apricot and lemon breads. Vanilla marks the creamy entry with almond and nougat, that turns bourbon ball quickly leaving you with fire and smoke and lemon tea. Whiskey and lemon become pronounced upon the contemplative conclusion! Like being hugged to death by a baby balrog! #founders #barrelaged #bourbonbarrelaged #beer #dankbeer #imperialipa #ipa #imperial #ale #foundersbrewing #doom ## — 8 years ago
Medium Ruby color with aromas of red fruits, cedar, flowers, herbs and mineral spice. On the palate flavors of sweet cherry and strawberry with notes of tea, herbs and pepper spice. Full-bodied, fine savory tannins, long finish ending with fruit, herb and a savory earthy character. Nice! — 2 years ago
The third and latest release of the Founder’s Reserve follows the tradition of the previous versions; a Bordeaux blend of sorts with a dollop of Syrah. Popped and poured; consumed over four days. The wine came across disjointed on Day 1 & 2. By day 3 it started to turn into something more interesting and Day 4 was best. Mostly blue and black fruits with dark cherries and figs, pipe tobacco, minerals, baking spices, a small touch of vanilla. Medium tannin. Medium plus acid. Finish is satisfying. A touch of heat on the finish but just. These need a few years to show their best. — 5 years ago
