The new elite high end bling bling cuvee from Sylvain Gauthier of Domaine des Pierres Seches. I’ve been waiting to taste this for a long time. What a nose. Cote Rotie like! Super dark florals, granite, wet clay, dark blackberry fruit. Lifted, complex and super elegant. A nose that stops you in your tracks. White pepper. Violets. My goodness the florals are like elite Cote Rotie. Just stunning. Best nose on a Gauthier wine ever. Endless depth on the palate and big but so so elegant. Wow this is special. Sappy, dense, concentrated and so peppery. Amazing and I mean amazing freshness. Finish is so delineated, gamey and meaty. Concentrated but so lightweight! Wow. The texture here is crazy. This has endless and uncommon depth. Unreal length. This is super super elite wine. Wow, I am speechless. This is one of the best St. Jo’s I’ve ever had. Remarkable in every way. Big tannins that are so sweet and so ripe. This wine has big time dark energy but man is it good. Lurid. Nose starts to develop black and green olive after some air. Wow the granitic freshness that develops after air is something else. Crazy tiny berry fruit intensity. Just explosive. A wine of contemplation and also way too young. This could be as high as 9.9 with age. I’ll be back as it develops.
After many hours this just gets better and better. The nose smells like a JM stephan Cote rotie. Citrus rind, tree bark, spices, violets. Florals. Just an amazing wine. Complex granite and forest floor. Concentrated and so elegant, with great power and structure. Gets to every nook and cranny. Vivid olives on the mid and backend. Abundant yet ripe tannins. A magical bottle of wine.
9.7 to 9.8 overnight. Just transcendent. — 2 days ago
Wow what a nose. Slamming. Floral, elegant and focused. Not vulgar. High toned. Melon, cantaloupe and barely mango. Some intriguing minerality as well but so much Viognier florality. Palate is fresh and energetic. A bit of heat as this is 14.5% and Viognier does not hold its alcohol that well. It’s very good but a tad hot.

Floral and full of olives. Utterly classic and super pure. Loads of granite and huge dark berry fruit. Aromatic and sensual. Lovely herbals as well. Almost smells like high end indica. Wow this is terrific! Huge power, depth and concentration and big, but ripe and substantial tannins. But of all the normal st. Jo’s I sell this one benefits the most from age. 3-4 years this is what one wants to be drinking. Perfect balance and outrageous freshness. Really long and showing wonderful complexity. After air this gets super duper floral and shows such startlingly pure fruit. Really young with such fine tannins. So well knit and integrated as it airs. The first sip is a bruiser then it gets all elegant and fine. Tangy as well on the finish. A great wine. — 16 days ago
Stunning nose, blackberries and florals, hint of honey and loads of granite. Black and green olive. Almost a tapenade. Super floral. Just a stunning stunning nose. Truly wow. Big wine and very juicy and very grippy. Huge structure, depth and tannins and just unreal granitic freshness. Wow. So so deep. Massive tannins but they are ripe and has that 2018 “this will age for fucking ever” vibe to it. That nose is easily a 9.7 but the palate needs to come together a bit more which it will. So rich, so decadent yet so fresh with absurd levels of concentration and richness. Bury this deep in the back of the cellar. Terrific long finish with just amazing persistence. — 6 days ago

Burgundy tasting at foreign cinema. Reallly great with seafood, there was excellent acidity and some earth flavors. Really liked it but was overshadowed by the Chardonnay. — 9 days ago
