Minerality, crispness, mostly dry…a profile I love. I was pleasantly surprised by this find at Fred Meyer!

Cristal Brut Champagne 2008

Stellar. Toasted hazelnuts, lemon curd, methyl anthranilate. Super fine bubbles that take you to the still zesty ripe Meyer Lemon finish. I recall when we had a bottle of this upon release I preferred the freshness then. This has been stored in our eurocave since we bought it from the reps at a party @sigh in Sonoma (Highly recommended btw - Thanks Jayme!) Here’s to 20 more years Mia ❤️ — 4 years ago

A revelation. Had the 2012 at Have & Meyer a few years ago and thought the food and place colored my judgment. Enjoying this at home confirmed my bias this is one of the best orange wines from Italy. — 5 years ago

Okanagan Valley Pinot Noir 2018

2018 vintage. This is crushable wine. It is so easy to drink.
Bright, shiny cherry red in the glass. On the nose, Rainier Cherries, celery salt, carrot tops and green vegetal.
Get tasting this. Crisp acidity with bright cherries, strawberries and cranberries. It has a juiciness that is refreshing. It’s a steal at $25 CDN $$

Yorkville Highlands Syrah 2012

Right at PnP w soft red fruit and some pomegranate tartness and a hint of tobacco. After open a while the tobacco notes were more enhanced and the fruit became riper. Also some black pepper spice emerged towards the back. Nice layers. — 6 years ago

Watson Ranch Napa Valley Chardonnay 2023

Needs air for 3 hours. Then just great. 13.1 % lots of stuffing here. A powerful Chard with weight and body. Well balanced acidity. Already a hint of Hazelnut but otherwise at this point of its evolution citrus driven. Meyer lemon, sour mandarine, hint of green, touch smoke. Keep for 10 years. Diam Cork 5. — 8 months ago

Blauschiefer Ahr Spätburgunder 2018

Slightly denser & darker vs the ‘normal’ Spätburgunder... still very fresh & pure yet the cherry gets darker and some darker berries appear and whiff of mushroom. Beautiful mouthfeel, juicy, velvety tannins, the wood showing a nice backdrop against the purity of fruit, the minerality of slate shining through, a touch of dark chocolate & coffee inter finish.
This has flow, this has depth, not sure though if, at this point in time, it justifies the +50% in price vs the normal Pinot.
A truly lovely wine, nonetheless!

Virtual tasting with Texture Wines and winemaker Erich Bradley.

This is my second time with this wine in the last 18 months, the first being back in San Antonio for the WNH event when
@Joe Lucca
brought it. Joe was the key component to getting the Texture Wines virtual tasting setup. Wonderful time.

I gave this about a two hour decant and it needed every bit of it. In the glass, I was shocked at how golden and amber it was (Erich addressed this during our tasting and said he likes to get a bit of oxygen to it early on to prevent any type of premox later in its life). Meyer lemon, lemon oil, sea salt, oyster shell and crushed limestone dominate the nose. Even some candied pineapple. Electric on the palate with zero trace of oak accompanied by bright citrus. So much tart but flavorful fruit carried by high acidity. Towards the end of night one, the finish had a note of soft pink cotton candy. On day two, the fruit became more rich and honeyed. This is built like grand cru Chablis and isn’t fading for at least 7-10yrs.

Fun afternoon at Classic with great company. Glad you could join us Bryan.

Lemongrass and Meyer lemon on the nose. Medium acidity...mostly steely but there is a hint of oak. Being mersault, I expected a little more. Chalk and limestone down the middle of the palate.

@Yotam Sharon : I’m certainly no white burgundy expert, I just saw Meursault at the bottom of the label, so I just assumed. Guess not?

@Shay A the winery is located in Meursault, but this wine is either a mix of different vineyards in several villages or from vineyards outside a village appellation boundaries.

"Les Oliviers" Saint-Joseph Marsanne-Roussanne Blend 2016

Quite restrained aromatically at first but opened up a bit over the course of the evening. Honeysuckle, marzipan, Meyer lemon, pit fruit and melon, stony finish, broad on the palate. Still a spot on thanksgiving pairing — 2 years ago

Rías Baixas Albariño 2021

This pale yellow wine smells strongly of flowers and citrus - it is a beautiful nose, really gorgeous. The palate is somewhat soft and has mineral notes along with Meyer lemon and tangerine. Acidity comes in at medium strength, just enough to tingle the tongue. The sip is wonderful, with great flavors and an easy drinking mouthfeel. — 3 years ago

L'Amateur Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Chardonnay

This is LV14. No dosage. A year and a half since my last btl, roughly. On the nose: melon, with creme fraiche, basil, meyer lemon, meyer lemon zest. Not sure I would believe BdB blind. Color suggests skin contact...almost soft peach. On the palate: aggressive mousse at first...maybe needed a decant. Lovely acidity, lime, bitter citrus, a touch short, and very juicy on the dense and tangy finish. A stunner. — 5 years ago

Müller 2018

The 2018 is unlike any other unser Mueller I had since E&M made this wine. Previously this wine was clearly ‘orange’ and could have in some vintages Kambucha like properties. I loved every single vintage in fact it is my favorite white E&M. The 2018 is in a league of its own a serious wine at a stupendous low price. More acidic than previous vintages. Lemon thyme hint of Riesling ‘diesel’. Stone fruit. Meyer Lemon. Orange zest. Great match for asian food or scallops in a white wine sauce. Highly recommended. Impressive. — 6 years ago
