Les Vignes de Maillonge Mercurey Chardonnay 2019

Lotta oak in play here. Almost like 1980s Cali Chardonnay. Nose features melted butter and toasted vanilla, with nice underlying stony soil tones. Ripe pear fruit. In the mouth, there’s that oak again in the forefront, but behind it there is some nice fruit and decents acids for a wine that is 14%. Finish is long. — 14 days ago

Yeah, sort of surprising for a wine from the Chalonnais. Hopefully as it airs it will recede.

Had the 2020 in November 2023. Lovely nose. Deep, rich ruby color. Semi-opaque. Medium to full body for a Pinot. Paid 32€ in Paris — 6 months ago

Pfersigberg Alsace Grand Cru Riesling

Beautiful golden color. Intense fruit on the nose followed by the same on the palate-lychee pear melon honey. Touch of sugar. A great Alsace Gewurtztraminer!! — 3 years ago
