Côte St-Jacques Bourgogne Pinot Gris 2020

Vintage 2020 | Impressed. Power and spicyness and light footed elegance. Curious, from Pinot Gris. Paired with Jamon de Bellota from Ibérico pigs. And homemade Cantonese Kow Low Yuk. — 12 days ago

I didn’t even know they allowed Pinot Gris in Bourgogne!

Pinot Gris is allowed in quite a lot of appellations in Bourgogne. It's used mostly as "cépage accessoires" with pinot noir. For rosé it's allowed as "cépage principaux" in several appellations (eg generic Bourgogne and Yonne). But quite rare indeed.

Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2018

Young and tightly wound, but actually quite enjoyable because of it. Less masculine than I would expect from a Northern Rhone Syrah. Fresh red fruit and grippy tannins. Beautiful. — 16 days ago

Les Chenevery Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Red cherry, wild strawberry and cranberry fruit tones supported by a hint of damp leaf and cardamon spice. Silky texture with red fruit and surprising freshness in context of the vintage. Enjoyable now but should be in this spot for 4 to 6 years. — 11 days ago

Great QPR for Grenache-driven blend, easy to drink right away with cherry, earth, and tannins. — a day ago

Les Faconnières Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2010

Just stellar. Cherry, raspberry, pomegranate fruits intertwined with earth, all spice and hint of barrel. Superb texture with supple tannins with a hint of whole stem flavors. Red fruits and nice vibrancy with a mineral jolt. Close to peak but should be fab for 5 to 8 more years. — 11 days ago

The 2012 is structurally simple and soft, otherwise great winemaking and fruit purity. — 3 days ago

Has unforced grandeur and grace, rare qualities these days. Full aromatic range, low notes are resplendent. — 17 days ago

Domaine Grand Veneur Les Champauvins Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2017

Stylish with plenty of Southern Rhône character, the CDR Les Champauvins from Dom. Grand Veneur is drawn from a plot just north of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and neighbouring Beaucastel’s Coudoulet lieu-dit. It features quite generous aromas of plum, hoisin, violet, garigue and vanilla leading to a very spicy and full bodied palate that hides its high ABV (15%) well. This is a good imitation of its AOC superiors and drinks well at four years of age. — 20 days ago
