First planted in 1995, the Bunker Hill Vineyard is located in the Salem Hills and benefits from the cooling winds of the Pacific Ocean through the Van Duzer corridor. The resultant wine starts off with aromas of vanilla, crème brûlée, peat moss, and ripe pineapple. The minerality and intensity to this wine is highly satisfying, as is the richness and brightness shines through. Color of ruby and cranberry juice, a bit cloudy, quite light considering she is Syrah. Now of strawberry jam, fresh berries, like cranberry or raspberry, and overall dominated by waves of berry note. Taste follows similar notes, with addition of citrus zest, a bit vanilla, low tannin, sweet ripe blueberry, cured meat, a bit mineral, and a bit of spice. Aftertaste of warmth, a bit peppery , and zesty, medium long lingering. Clean, full of flavors, and tasty but definitely not your traditional Syrah. — 13 days ago

Densely loaded and tightly wound right now, the 2016 ‘Harrison Hill’ is a monstrous beast of a Cabernet that needs more than a two hour decant to unwind. 100% Chardonnay fermented in French oak, which gives a district aroma of creme fraîche and buttery rustic mushrooms. The palate is a nice contrast with a fresh acidity and predominate fruit flavors of yellow apple and Meyer lemon. An icon of Australian Red wine. Unfortunately a strong whiff of H2S on the Nose. I have struck this problem previously with also Henschke Mount Edelstone on a couple of occasions. The hallmark of this wine has always been its beautiful supple silky tannins with flavours of plum and raspberry. Tannins totally resolved. The product of a 140 year single vineyard in the Eden Valley. Unfortunately prices these days have gone through the roof. I hope we don’t encounter the H2S in subsequent bottles. — 17 days ago
Dark ruby in color with a cloudy brick rim.
On the nose, currants, plums, light wood, vanilla, spices, wet leaves, forest floor, pencil lead, vinaigrette, leather and peppercorn.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, oak, red currants, vanilla, licorice, earth, eucalyptus, vinaigrette, leather, dark chocolates, coffee and peppercorn.
Nice finish with fine grained tannins and tangy pomegranates.
This is a very nice aged Shiraz from Australia. Not fully balanced anymore, but showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
Showing a nice tangy ending, which would pair well with food.
Interesting and enjoyable, although this was probably better a couple of years ago.

Had this year & half ago, got another bottle, aged well! Rich deep Ruby, aromas of dark berry fruit & rustic spices. 100% Pinot Noir wine aged on French oak for 14 mos, (35% new) before bottling in December ’15. On the palate, the wine was medium+ in weight showing sweet cherry, plum & blackberry. Pinot had velvet tannins encircled by lively acidity & touch of pepper & gentle oak giving the wine tremendous depth & balance. Elegant wine with great length on the finish. Extraordinary! The Mystery Wine at the monthly Downs Club Committee Dinner - so tasted this blind. Dark crimson in colour. Initially subdued nose - very dense tight and contained. Don’t think it had had a long Decant - should have asked. Same tightness on the palate. This will live for decades. Plummy earthy mineral notes on the Medium plus bodied palate.
