Interesting. 2012 vintage. Great compliment with the food. Can be too oxidized if drank alone. — a month ago

La Scolca

White Label Bianco Secco Gavi Cortese 2016

Gavi comes from small growing area in northwestern Italy located north of Genoa on steep slopes of Ligurian Apennines. White label is La Scolca’s everyday wine, an alternative to their “Black Label”. From Cortese di Gavi grape (younger vines), straw yellow with delicate aromas of stone and citrus fruits. On the palate apple, extended lees aging gives rich apple and lemon flavors, some nutty notes, good mouthfeel. Crisp medium finish, vivid acidity ending with a mineral character. Nice! — 17 days ago

Fratelli Alessandria

Monvigliero Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

Not quite the level of Burlotto but a delicious Monvigliero that was elegant & floral showing tart cherry, strawberry, mineral, dried herb spices & rose petal. — 14 days ago

Gianfranco Alessandria

Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

4-5 hour decant at first thought barely opened this quality Barolo but in glass we got some preview of its future majestic state. Initially utterly sealed on the nose. Very strong tannins still need integration & the perfumed rose & Black fruits were coaxed out by much glass swirling. So not complete infanticide but kinda close. Still fascinating though to glimpse the inner power of a developing Barolo — 13 hours ago

Villa Sparina

Brut Gavi Cortese

Very fine bubbles. Starts out lemony and ends with a bit of a bitter lemon rind taste. Tai says it’s lemon curd and creamy. Dry. — 18 days ago
