2024/7/20-21. Aromatically this starts out pretty brown - lots of toasted spice and earth. With air it does show flashes of the deep, smoky cherry one might expect, and it’s still very enjoyable, but I can’t help wonder if this bottle (which I bought on sale) might have been a little worse for wear. Last of three bottles of this. It’s never been the fruitiest or friendliest Brunello. And it’s still quite tannic, but it’s resolving well and, in my view, at its peak. To wait longer for the remaining tannins to fully drop would be at the expense of the remaining fruit. Color is going brown at the rim. Nice intensity and decent balance right now. Mostly tertiary notes, but there is a core of morphing fruit underneath. Should go well with the Tuscan beef stew (Peposo) I’m making. — 5 months ago

From Tuscany’s Val d’Arno di Sopra, in the hills east of the Chianti Classico region. This is very friendly and pure tasting. Nose has gorgeously pure, ripe Sangiovese scents of dark cherry, along with some gentle spice and minerally gravel scents. Focused and concentrated fruit in the mouth, forceful but soft and balanced. Not a great deal of complexity, but lots of flavor and purity. — 2 years ago
