Fattoria Poggerino

Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2016

This Chianti Classico is made of 100 % organic Sangiovese. Dominated by red berries and red cherry; dusty with spices, licorice and hint of herbal note. Great acidity with integrated tannin. — a month ago

Castello di Gabbiano

Bellezza Gran Selezione Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2013

Very supple and drinking nicely, especially on day two. Very dark and brooding for a Sangio but I guess that’s the GS designation for ya. Tar, licorice root, dark berries. Sweet tannins with a bit of a dusty finish. Oak is a little too forward and hasn’t integrated as well as I’d hope for a wine at this level. — a day ago

Castello di Ama

Gran Selezione San Lorenzo Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2013

Celebrating a new job offer tonight with some Filet Mignon and this beauty of a wine I’ve been sitting on. Rich and brooding fruit forward Chianti with a savory backbone. Blackberry, black cherry and plum skin, charred herbs, forest floor, new leather, dried purple flowers and sweet and spicy baking spices (clove and cinnamon). Medium plus acidity with medium plus, grippy tannins, medium plus body, long length of finish. High quality wine from one of the best Chianti producers out there. Definitely a treat! — 5 days ago

Fontodi

Vigna del Sorbo Gran Selezione Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 1999

20 years old and still so young, with vibrant fruit, an incredibly silky texture, lovely acid. Some stewed fruit that grew younger and fresher with 30+ minutes of decanting. Black pepper, smoke, tobacco, and more tertiary flavors on the palate. Finish does not last forever but it keeps you going back for more. I doubt this will evolve more so would drink up, but it will last for at least a few more years. — 5 days ago

Fattoria Selvapiana

Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina Trebbiano Malvasia 2005

2005 Vintage. 13% Alcohol. 500 mL. You really appreciate the extra 125 mL! Honey, citrus, butterscotch to maple syrup. Good acidity. Perfect for biscottis. Loved it. — 16 days ago
