Chalk Hill

Diamond Creek Vineyards

Volcanic Hill Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1991

From 375 ml bottle...good things can come in small packages.

Double decant and pour. A still dark purplish garnet color with some bricking(decent chunky/fine sediment). On the nose: subtle brooding notes of dark fruit, currants, wet forest floor, worn leather, smokey grilled meat. Taste: creamy, elegant, balanced, savory wine with some dark cherry, earth, dark chocolate, cedar, tobacco, and a cocoa dried herb medium plus finish. YUM!

Bacigalupi Vineyard Chardonnay 2013

Still delicious and has changed less with age than I expected. Not sure if I should have sat on it longer. It has gotten nuttier with hazelnut becoming more prominent. Still a lot of oak and lemon, with a touch of flint and brioche. It’s — 2 days ago

1 hour decant(decent fine /cloudy sediment). A striking dark garnet with some bricking. On the nose: subdued notes of dark fruit, currants, herbaceous, forest floor, worn leather, coffee grounds, slight menthol. Taste: smooth, slightly creamy, mouthcoating wine with black fruit, cedar, minerals, dark chocolate, earth, and a spiced graphite long finish with just a touch of heat. YUM! — a month ago

Grosset

Polish Hill Clare Valley Riesling 2013

Mid yellow in colour. Musky notes with a little talc - white and yellow flowers. On the palate lovely ripe peach flavours. Incredible flavour intensity. Irresistible. Low acid. Definitely one of Australia’s best dry Rieslings. No notes of TDN. Have the last one in a year or two. See previous Delectable note 6 years ago in June 2018 when it was carrying more citric acid. — 2 months ago

@Bob McDonald, yes it is. Gaia isn’t tho. It’s a real shame because there’s been a pull-back on Aussie wines in the U.S. Over 20 years ago, the market was flooded with Aussie wines, many sub par. Now Aussie wines occupy a small space on the shelves over here.
