Château Fourcas Dupré – 2021
Listrac-Médoc – Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷
Overview
A Left Bank classic from Listrac-Médoc, where gravelly soils meet clay-limestone for structured, age-worthy wines. The estate’s V.2021 blend is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon 54%, Merlot 45% and Petit Verdot 1%. 2021 was a challenging, cooler vintage, producing fresher, leaner profiles with elegant structure.
Aromas & Flavors
Black cherry, cassis, and blackberry, layered with notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, graphite, and a hint of violet.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with firm yet polished tannins, good freshness, and a mineral-driven edge. This vintage leans more classic and restrained compared to riper recent years.
Food Pairings; Roast lamb with rosemary, duck breast, entrecôte bordelaise. Beef stew, cassoulet, mushroom ragout. Tomme de Savoie, aged Gouda, firm sheep’s milk cheeses.
Verdict
A terroir-driven Médoc showing the cooler vintage’s hallmark freshness and precision. While not as plush as warmer years, it’s beautifully balanced, approachable now, and may develop nicely over the next decade. Cheers!

Ruby , with a ruby pink rim . Slightly cooler , tobacco , grafite edged Summer fruits, with red cherry and spicy blackberry, cassis . Blackcurrant , spicy red cherry , some grafite , tobacco hints . A little drier and more linear on the palate than the Lalande Borie , but also shorter and a little less complex on the medium minus finish . Drink now and over the next 5-8 years . — a year ago
2020 was the last vintage produced under Groupama ownership, as the estate was sold in April 2021 to Gerald Jicquel (the Beautiful Life Group , that also owns Fourcas-Dupré). While it is an attractive, smooth Haut-Médoc, it lacks a bit of concentration, especially if compared to some of its peers in this great vintage ( like the Barreyres 2020 I've tasted yesterday). But a nice drink in any case. Abv. 13%. — 2 months ago

31 years old and still looks juvenile. No signs of evolution. First nose packed with red fruits and violet. Not very long, medium bodied, but so inviting ! — 10 months ago
2016 vintage. Second wine of Château d'Agassac, owned at the time by French insurance company Groupama (and since 2021 by Gerald Jiquel who also owns Fourcas-Dupré in Listrac). Hard to beat for value for money! Classic Haut-Médoc with impeccable balance.Abv. 13%. — 2 years ago
Ten years in the bottle - and it's enough I suppose. A plum or plum jam, smoke, leather. Silky tannins, medium and pleasant acidity. — 4 months ago
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Fruity nose of black fruits with light wood, spices, coffee and chocolates.
Medium plus in body and elegant, with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates and black pepper.
Nice finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 5 year old, second wine from this Fifth Growth Bordeaux winery is drinking very nicely now.
Well balanced with nice complexity. Spicy, rich and fruit forward.
Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
Good by itself or with food.
A blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (50% new) French oak barrels for 15 months.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

Oak, fruity, clove, nutmeg, anise. Vanilla. Creamy. Black fruits. Slightly tannic, but 9 years vintage, so relatively gentle. Good to drink. Château Fourcas Hosten Les Cedres d’ Hosten Listrac Medoc 16 @1800, F, 250704 — a year ago
