Had another bottle in my cellar, had this about 2 years ago. Louis Latour's domaine covers 50 hectares including the largest collection of Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. Aged for 12 months in French Oak (35% new), bright Ruby with complex red fruit aromas and spicy oak. On the palate blackberry and currants flavors with cacao and oak notes, fine soft tannins, lively acidity, well balance. Lingering finish ending with earthy mineral tones. Aging well! — 6 days ago
Light ruby red , moving to a wide garnet rim . Lots of red fruits on the nose , nice elegant , feminine , floral also . In the mouth , more strawberry , red cherry and raspberry fruits , a good dash of acidity keeps the wine in balance . The tannin is pretty ripe and already integrated. Very good length, nicely judged. A rewarding wine for drinking now and over the next 3 years or so. — 13 days ago
Medium to rich crimson in colour. Aromas of Roses earth and cherries. On the palate savoury with very good intensity and length. Light to medium weight. A deserving Premier Cru from the great commune of Vosne Romanee. With time in decanter a touch of mushroom on the nose with lovely red fruit/sappiness on palate. Allen Meadows says the reference standard in Les Beaux Monts is Leroy but like all Cuvées from Leroy at eye watering prices. — 4 days ago
Prior notes apply, very consistent.
A beautiful golden yellow straw color in the glass.
Nose has banana skin, honey roasted almonds, shaved oak and wet chalk.
Palate is bruised golden apple, warmed pear, candied lemon skin with fading oak influence. The acidity is just perfect to the mineral balance. This bottle has plenty of life remaining.
Paired with a gratuitous slab of steelhead trout on the grill, baby fennel, roasted baby spring veggies and grilled lemon.
Fully into a happy place this evening. 👍
Love how Meo-Camuzet laser etches the corks for security, lot traceability and authentication. — 15 days ago
Insane nose. Huge berry fruit. Blackberry, raspberry, super complex. Granite. Earth and mineral. It’s just stunning. You gotta pay $150 for this in Côte de Nuits. Spice. Clove. Herbs. Just insane. Soil tones. What a palate. So so refined. So elegant. So pure and fresh. Huge blackberry and cherry fruit that is just crackling with wonderful velvety like tannins and stellar purity. This needs age but oh man bojo does not get much better. Amazing length. So complex but this baby will slay in 10 years. So juicy and with a wonderful structure and freshness. My god this is deep with such an insane hit of opulence. Stunning in every way. — 5 days ago
Regal, powerful, polished beneath a rustic veneer. Reductive out of the gate, the next day revealing complex and subtle layers of sappy fruit and resinous herbs. Raspberry, Kirsch, licorice, cedar and smoke flavors pushed forward. The mid palate is lithe and graceful, finishing with a silken texture that shows deft restraint in a rather generous vintage. The power and richness of 2015 makes an overall impression but is not the dominant feature. And despite the imprint of slightly charred new oak flavors, the acidity and freshness of this 1er cru lift things up and prevent it from feeling weighty. Truly a tremendous Burgundy.
