Don’t know much about Colombard but this is extremely pleasant. Have bought another and will buy more. — 15 days ago

Mia Luce

Syrah & Stems 2019

Dark purple in color with a wide purplish rim.

On the nose cherries, black plums, barnyard, oak, spices, licorice, violets, espresso, vegetables, herbs, earth, wet leaves and black pepper. Nice complexity on the nose.

Full bodied with medium acidity and smooth.

Dry on the palate with currants, black cherries, plums, earth, oak, vegetables, black pepper, tobacco leaf, spices, coffee, wet leaves, herbs and earth.

Medium length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very interesting Syrah from Israel. Showing a great smooth mouthfeel and very aromatic.

Still very young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. A good quality wine with good potential for aging. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years.

Feels very much like a young Northern Rhone. A little stinky as well, which is nice to see.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, so be patient.

100% Syrah grapes were fermented on the stems and aged for 11 months in French oak barrels. Kosher and unfiltered.

13% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

@"Odedi" I’ve heard about Mia Luce and have wanted to try it for some time now. Last I checked it wasn’t available outside of Israel. I’ll have to check again.

Domaine de Pouy

Côtes de Gascogne Ugni Blanc-Colombard Blend 2020

Great value; well balanced with some fresh melon flavors.

No offense, but the 8.4 Pro rating seems a tad ungenerous.

Domaine Monts & Merveilles

La verre de la terre Page Blanche 2019

Surprisingly aromatic with notes of orange marmelade, yellow blossom and ripe stone fruit. Dry, medium bodied with balancing acidity, yellow fruit, notably less wild on the palate than the nose. — 5 days ago

Michel Couvreur

Overaged Malt Whisky

So smooth & unique at $75.00

elgian Michel Couvreur was an independent bottler of single-malt Scotch (and this apprentice Jean-Arnaud has carried on after studying under Michel for more than a decade). The cellars are located in Bouze-lès-Beaune in the heart of Burgundy, where Michel aged his single malts for years in sherry butts and then in demijohns or giant bottles kept in total darkness in the exceptionally well-protected underground galleries of Bouze-lès-Beaune. Vatted from 54 whiskies aged 12 to 27 years in oak casks, this malt has a rich amber color, a nose full of dried flowers, tobacco leaf, Jerez wine, and fat almond, plus a powerful, fruity, long finish. What a fantastic accompaniment to smoked salmon when served over ice. It is also perfect as a dinner digestive served at room temperature.
