Ballard Canyon Estate Syrah 2019

Sweet oak, black and blue fruits, and finally some spice and structure from the dollop of Petite Sirah, solid balance, needs more cellaring to soften the structure, very good Central Coast Syrah! — 14 hours ago

Flor Ballard Canyon Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend

The Jonata “Flor” is a damn good reason to fall back in love with Sauvignon Blanc (wish a dash of Semillon). Fresh and crisp yet lush and silky- all at the same time. And it evolves. From the nose to every bit of the palate, the “Flor” is a masterpiece. — a month ago

Estate Cuvée State Lane Vineyard Merlot Blend 2019

Relative to when I had this a year ago, the wine has developed slightly, perhaps gaining a little more density and body while shedding some of the crazy floral / violet aromas - while not heavy it’s certainly is medium body leaning toward full body. On the nose lovely casis and herbs (leaning toward the savory side but very well layered and fragrant). While this wine has no hard edges I believe it needs a few more years in bottle to really come together - it’s got great stuffing and just needs more time — 2 months ago

Todos Ballard Canyon Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

A blend of about 50% Syrah, rest Cab Sauv, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah, Cab Franc, Sangiovese, Viognier & Merlot. Deep inky Ruby color with complex aromas of dark fruit, spice, almonds and wet earth. On the palate blackberry, currant and raspberry flavors, soft tannins on a long finish ending with leather, pepper, smoke and oak tones. Very Nice, a beauty. — 21 days ago

La Sangre de Jonata Ballard Canyon Syrah 2015

Even better than the crazy-good 2007, the 2015 La Sangre de Jonata is sheer perfection in a glass and up with the finest Syrahs ever made in California! Checking in as a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier, aged in barrel, its saturated purple color is followed by out of this world aromatics black raspberries, smoked earth, graphite, game, violets and freshly crushed rock-like minerality. — a month ago

Sounds crazy, given the pricing, but underrated stuff.

Star Lane Vineyard

Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

ちょっとお高いカリフォルニアのCS。うきうき税込4680円の2016年もの。うーん❤️、ボルドー信者には無理かも知れませんが、個人的にはかなりの高級感。香り、凝縮感、アフターすべて申し分ないです。

Drinking perfectly right now. Tart pomegranate. Bright acidity. Hint of morels at the end. Lingers on the palate — 8 days ago

La Cuadrilla Ballard Canyon Red Blend 2022

Stolpman never fails! Downed this vintage with a meatball sub. Not overly grippy, the Sangiovese and Grenache do this wine wonders. Earthy berries, spice, and tar. Just delightful. — 18 days ago

Whitehall Lane

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Merlot, Malbec and Petite Verdot blended in. Dark ruby color with purple highlights. Aromas of black berry/currant/cherry with additional notes of dried figs and tobacco. Dark fruit also on the palate with hints of dark chocolate, plums, roasted nuts, sweet spices and earth. Lovely hint of graphite on the long finish. Full bodied but so savory well balanced. Velvety tannins. Thanks for sharing this one during Super Bowl LIX, Mark S! — 2 months ago

Leonardini Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Lovely, albeit typical Napa Cab with deep berry and vanilla notes. Not much tannin or complexity. — 3 months ago
