Switching gears and changing lanes…
A reference point in terms of single vineyard rioja in Spain. Displays no signs of age. Beautiful nose of cedar and blueberry pie. So well balanced on the mid palate displaying depth, volume and a touch of barrel toast. Tannins are still prominent, but regal. This was a dream bottle tonight. — 2 years ago

2007 Mauro. HB w J&L B, J&J Koz. Drank last, after the ‘95 Artadi and ‘68 Lopez de Heredia. Great! Most lush and fruit-forward of the bunch. Loved it. — 7 years ago
Put simply - this is a super premium wine that sells for a modest premium price. Luscious, smokey, balanced, and what one hopes for in a great Tempranillo. — 7 months ago
Bright cherry nose
A well crafted wine, this has a medium to bigger body, sea salted cherry, oregano, pomegranate seed, orange zest, berry stem.
The tannins are gripping yet subdued by the wines character, and persimmon acidity.
An excellent and contemplative tipple.

2007 Marques de Murroeta Castillo Ygay Rioja. Ordered off the list at Kokk in SF bc the bottle of ‘94 Artadi we brought was a bad bottle. Decanted this, but still just way too big. Stuck to the mouth; big, juicy red fruit flavor (plum jam). Infanticide. — 6 years ago
I just made a tasting note and somehow Delectable ate my tasting note. This wine was deep Ruby red- call it black - impenetrable. A dense tarry note with blackberry, dry herbs, black liquorice and hints of pipe tobacco. Rich, full bodied and delicious. Sumptuous. See my previous note from October 2022. 100% Tempranillo from Rioja. — a year ago
