Domaine Philippe Naddef

Vieilles Vignes Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2022

Lyle Fass
9.6

Since Michel Naddef has taken over this estate is a top estate in the Gevrey/Fixin/Marsannay space. One thing I have learned is that these wines need serious air. So my note will evolve. Nose is minty with deep cherry fruit and some lovely intense minerals. But it’s not there yet. Not even close. Tree bark and some developing florals. Tremendous mint, Like a wild mint. Truly beguiling. Hint of meatiness as well. Wow the palate is truly gorgeous with such a meaty vibe and a dark vibe. Super elegant and crystalline pure but man it needs air but so similar to barrel. I will be back. Super sapid and deep with amazing sweet and ripe tannins. What a wine. Ah wow, now inner mouth aromas and elite finesse. But still tight. I think it will be better tomorrow like the Fixin and Marsannay. Dark flowers on the nose. So compelling. — 21 days ago

Merry Christmas Eve-Eve!!! 🎄🎁🎅❄️🌟⛄️

Maybe, it’s the Christmas spirit and/or I really needed a good glass Rosé Champagne tonight but, I don’t recall this ever tasting better. Could simply be a better disgorgement? Ah, I’ll just say it’s Christmas Magic! Cheers! 🍾🥂

Shots around the house listening to our Christmas Eve Mix.

Yup, that’s my Wine Snowman! ⛄️

Be pairing this later with the Shari’s Chocolate Covered Strawberries that arrived today.

Ah Corfu! First wine on vacay. Tropical, mango, peach, green banana, some grapefruit, clean finish. Never had this grape before. Watching the rain clear. — 5 months ago

Jacques Selosse

Lieux Dits Aÿ La Cote Faron Extra Brut Grand Cru Champagne Blend

(Disgorged 1/18)- This has always been my favorite Blanc de Noirs and one of the first “ah ha” Selosse wines for me some years ago. The south facing La Côte Faron is particularly “Selossien” and therefore in my mind very singular, with its oxidative complexity, textural richness and generous sun kissed ripe fruit expression. Like all Selosse wines, it’s layered and particularly aromatic for Champagne with intense caramelized red berry fruit, licorice and wildflower honey. The palate shows tremendous volume and intensity with a powerful, full bodied and satiny texture and a long, vibrant, mineral finish. So good. — 2 years ago

Bodegas Muga

Reserva Unfiltered Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2018

NOSE: black cherry…clove…subdued pepper…old cedar…cinnamon…plum…sweet leaves…pine cones…smells good.

TASTE: Ah, Rioja. Smooth, mild potpourri and plum. Cherries (you can taste the pits). A slight funky goat-cheesy-yeastiness…medium weight. Tannins subtle, like gentle charcoal. Good stuff. I would love to try this in a few years. 92.
