Sishaye

Shiraz 2020

Nice, crisp white. Great with shrimp scampi, sundried tomato and spinach pasta. Sishaye, meaning Splash in Zulu, is a partnership between winemaker Pieter Carstens and Splash Wines. Exclusively bottled for Splash, the wines of Sishaye come from curated vineyards throughout South Africa’s Western Cape. With a focus on creating delicious wines at outstanding values, Splash is proud to present Sishaye. Chenin Blanc is a South African specialty for good reason. Vibrant aromas of green apples and tropical fruit with a delicious, fresh finish. — a month ago

Wolf Blass

Black Spice Barossa Shiraz 2016

In our Houston hotel with assorted middle eastern foods from Phoenicia Specialty Foods. Bought the wine at the Treasury employee store. Only got one bottle to try out. Not remembering the cost but this was a good value, tasty wine. Visited Blass in Barossa Valley last year. — 8 months ago

Zorah

Karasi Areni Noir 2016

Armenian wine has gained more global popularity since a team of archaeologists discovered the earliest evidence of complete wine production inside an Armenian cave. You probably still won’t find them in most restaurants but you can now get high quality contemporary Armenian wine in specialty shops or online. Karasi by Zorah is pretty unique because it was aged in a Karas instead of a traditional barrel. Nose is similar to Pinot Noir from hotter climate with cherry and peppery notes. Medium bodied with delicate tannins and acidity. Very elegant yet interesting wine. — 2 years ago

Raventos i Blanc

L'hereu Conca del Riu Anoia Macabeo-Xarel-lo-Parellada 2011

I have been meaning to try this bubbly for awhile! No specialty wine stores in Avon IN. I did pick this up at a liquor store; only one on the shelf. Yes a 2011 for $ 22.99! Does that seem right? @Severn Goodwin ? Present pear, baked golden apples, brioche, mild acidity and honeycomb! — 2 months ago

YUZU jelly sparkling wine specialty

Very yuzu. Gotta shake it up like the can says, otherwise the jellies concentrate at the bottom and hard to get out — 8 months ago

Giacomo Conterno

Cascina Francia Barolo Nebbiolo 2009

@Eric LaMasters set up a tour on Friday of La Quercia, a top end producer of specialty cured meats. We met up at the cheese bar before for Italian/Spanish and Rhône wines. @David L brought a classic Conterno. The bloodlines here are obvious, lots of depth and concentration and clear 30+ years of stuffing. — 2 years ago

Le Grand Clos Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2010

Vintage 2010 / dark colour, deep and complex smell with a lot of spices, raspberry, which I love from the first day I sipped a Bourgueil. Velvety taste. / Paired with Dutch Cheese with clove, a specialty from Friesland. — 8 months ago
