Tres Girard Morey St. Denis Pinot Noir 2016

I can't help but crack a smile when drinking the Lignier wines of recent. There's just this lovely transparent fruit, often set of a racy, mineral-driven frame. The 2016 Tres Girard is no different - it leads with explosive scents of black cherry, rose, and sarsaparilla, followed by a red berry-saturated palate with strong salinity and subtle earth notes. Plain delicious, a bottle for one. — 2 months ago

Absolutely agree. Lignier has been on a tear for the last 5 or so vintages.

Grand Chaliot Rouge Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2015

This is some seriously crushable burgundy. Light bodied with generous red fruit and perfect acidity but still with some presence and backbone of smoke and earth on the back end. Feels like being on vacation with each sip. Love it — 2 months ago

Vieilles Vignes Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir 2015

Part 1 of my Chambolle-Musigny indulgence this weekend. Michelot is just an amazing producer and has a tremendous ability to impart a sense of place in his wines! I have really enjoyed his Gevrey Chambertin before and now this.. decanted for 3 hours. Bright Ruby color, Platinum hue on the rim. Medium viscosity. On the nose it was fresh red cherries, strawberries, raspberries and then to spices like rosemary, cloves and then the earthiness with wet forest floor and stones. Confirmed all on the palate. It was such a delicate and multi-layered wine with exceptionally long finish. Day 2, this bottle was singing. I picked up white flowers and Minty/eucalyptus tones on the nose and it tasted even better. Dry wine, medium to medium plus acidity that stayed through to the finish, medium tannins that were just silky and smooth, medium alcohol that you again just don’t feel at all. This is what Pinot Noirs should be about...delicate, complex, well integrated and all layers in harmony- finessed. Simply delicious! — 2 months ago
