Valle D'aosta, Italy

Maison Albert Vevey

Blanc Flapi Prié Blanc

Dessert wine, but not extremely sweet
Very fresh
On the nose is almondy and cheese plus amazingly floral as if you are on an Alps highland where cows are free range
It reminds me of a Malga Toma di Gressonay
On the palate is very citrusy somewhere between an orange rind and a grapefruit plus all the flowers still there and a almondy finish
Very very good
Production is so limited i can't even hope to get another bottle unless i go to visit Val d'Aosta

Quartara Giffoni Valle Piana Colli di Salerno Fiano 2017

Damn. Amazing.

Nose is concentrated. You can feel the intensity of skin contact but it’s not irritating. Green apple. Mineral.

Palate is gorgeous green apple. Mineral. Lemon. Amazing. Gorgeous aromatics.

Bought from fass selections.

Chateau Feuillet

Valle d'Aosta DOC Fumin 2018

As always: dark as blood, but on the palate, smooth as silk. Traces of violets, plums, and what is the right amount of acidity. — a month ago

Surprisingly full for a mountain wine. Lovely palate of white fruit with zippy acidity and a mildly bitter finish. Really out plays the $. Seek out! — 9 days ago

La Kiuva

Rouge de Vallée 2019

Blend with the local Nebbiolo. Medium–light. Good mountain minerality and a little funky. Tar + roses, graphite, some brambles, lush apple, touch of stewed strawberry, mild tannins and acidity but nice and savory. From Amaro Spirits & Wine. 08/31/21 — 25 days ago

Rampone Minutolo Valle d'Itria Fiano 2020

100% Minutolo from Puglia, light white with floral & lemon dominating with stony / almost wooly minerality. slight grapefruit notes as well. Reminds me of a cross between Sauv Blanc’s citrus, Chenin’s minerality, and Torrontes’ floral notes. Lighter than all those though, with medium acidity — 12 days ago

Torrette Petit Rouge Blend 2010

Simply put, the best $20 bottle of wine I’ve had in a very long time, maybe ever. 80% petite rouge, 20% other grapes like fumin, mayolet, and doucet. The nose was tremendous, rising from the glass like perfume, elegant but dense and persistent. Reminded me of a 1er red burgundy meets aged Barolo nose and palate…tertiary red cherry and berries, crushed dried flowers, subtle sandalwood spice, really, really complex! Age your Torrette! — 14 days ago

Definitely more ripeness than I’ve noticed in past vintages. Tbh I might have called this willamette valley blind. Still delicious — 22 days ago

Seriously great wine. Dark, fleshy, abundant fruit, well structured, long and elegant tannin structure. More serious than I expected and probably should have waited to open it... — 14 days ago

2014 was a difficult vintage in Italy for everyone.
Enjoy this wine now over the short term while you wait for 2015 and 2016 Brunello.
