of the Cornas flight, this was the standout and again, the lineup was significant. It was a wonderfully wild expression of Syrah in the way that Cornas provides and yet, there was some real sophistication to it as well. Mostly primary with deep, delicious dark berries leading the way with fabulous structure. Long way to go for this one. Simply in a different class tonight. — 16 days ago
The 2020 Les Mémoires is a round and elegant Cabernet Franc. It's a not-trying-hard wine that exudes a sense of calm and ease as it rolls around your mouth seamlessly. Maybe it's the 100-year-old vines doing their thing. There's no oak getting in the way, allowing the purity of fruit to shine. It remains true to its variety and place, while its light spice meets dark fruits. Forget the fruit flavors, this is all about refined texture and its fine, chalky, powdery veil of tannins lightly coating the palate. Long and textural, this is not a wine you'll regret... N: red fruits, some cassis, earth peeking here and there. Bordering on rich.
P:Red fruits well integrated into a earthier frame, med weight, earth, some wood, knit together quite well esp. after a 2 hr decant. Tannins present but subdued, great w protein. — 9 days ago
Initial impressions of green apple, citrus, wet stone and mineral. Same on the palate. Still quite restrained from this excellent white burgundy vintage of 8 years ago. Quite lean for a Premier Cru Meursault and leaner than most good Australian Chardonnays The oak is clearly dialled back to match the power of the fruit in this cooler vintage. A touch of salinity at the finish. — 2 months ago
