Ayler Kupp Auslese Riesling 2018

Vintage 2018 | The wine is now so appealing, it is difficult to put it away in the cellar and not think about it, for say five years… minerals in the smell and a excellent balance with breathtaking sweet that is balanced by awesome acidity. This is a treat to taste now and in the coming fifteen, twenty years. — 17 days ago

Wild Mountaineside Russian River Valley Syrah 2019

This bottle did not disappoint. Bursting with berries and earth on the nose. Very well balanced and held up beautifully with a steakhouse dinner. But, wait five years and this will be special. — a month ago

Five stars. Drinking very, very nicely. Parker said drink through 2030 and I think it will easily make it there. — 5 days ago

Napa Valley Syrah 2019

2019 vintage. This one is for @Ron R. Massive mouthfeel/bod and slightly sweet but not unpleasantly so. Nebulous flavor cloud of jammy flavors without semi-clear definition and direction currently. Still…so giving and voluptuous. Will be intriguing to see where this settles in two years…five years…a decade. Magic 8-Ball wisdom…”Cannot Predict Now” but sure as heck wanna be there when it gets opened. — 9 days ago

@Ron R Didn't like it as much as that Kongsgaard 2019 Syrah (drinking like a verry high-end Côte-Rôtie) but it definitely did not suck. Picked some up.

@vinokeeno, I’m not surprised. The price of the Kongsgaard relative to the Plumpjack, I’m not surprised with your choice. Is it a fair comparison???

@Ron R probably not a fair comparison.

Château L'Eglise-Clinet

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

Great bottle. Decanted for about 3.5 hrs. Velvety tannins. Sweet cherry licorice core. Marvin Gaye smooth. A bit more air might have helped the finish, which was good but a tad short. In its drinking window but can go for another five to ten easy. — 15 days ago

Barre Azure Red Blend

This vintage is amazing. Just hearty on the palate. Velvety. Plush. Balanced. Great contrast between just ripe dark and red fruit, tannins and earthiness. Best of five verticals of Barre Azure I’ve tasted. Impressionism on the palate. Cheers. — 5 days ago

Château Gazin

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Pomerol: my favorite Bordeaux Appellation, by far. Solid! With so much life and time left in the bottle… Heck, I could pair this with prime rib eye and and it would cut the fat seamlessly. Yeah, this is outstanding, and will only get better and better, peaking in about four or five more years. Amazing prolonged intense tannic finish. Cheers. — 15 days ago

Château Lagrange

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Dark, beautiful color. Decanted for an hour and forty five minutes or so.

Nose: Pencil shavings/graphite, cassis, orange peel, coffee, earth, raisin, milk chocolate, dried flowers, oak, dried herbs, dark berries. Oh boy!

Taste: the milk chocolate and cocoa really come through - along with a lot of herbs Mulberry (think a blackberry with a much more mineral taste.). Medium weight. Silky, elegant. Very, very good. You can tell it’s young (some vegetal tannins on the finish), but still a treat. Of the three excellent, high-er-end-ish (for me) red wines that I’ve had recently, I think this is the one I would be most likely to come back to. 94-95.
