A couple of millenial winos
Cherry, raspberry, dried herb (sage maybe). Definitely an outlier of the turley profile as it is more restrained, elegant, acidic. not as lush or layered as other turleys (4hrs in the fruit is softening up). The bright acidic fruit shows up front but the herbs/earth show up somewhere in the mid palate and dominate the finish. Still well made, and I have no doubt this would be appreciated by those wanting a more elegant style of zin. — 4 days ago
93-94. Brambly fresh red fruit. Tart like cranberry and pomegranate . Pretty tight a couple hours in. dense but retains a softness. Some pepper. Not a spicy zin. Biale is definitely light on the oak (burgundy barrels with 25% new oak) but this has a nice layer of vanilla to it. Age it for a few years. — 5 days ago
Probably my favorite oakville so far. Usually the beckstoffers are a clear notch above, but this has shortened the gap. Not as red fruited as before. Turns out it is a new vineyard : oakville 88 with a little ehrlich. Nice complexity.
