2016 vintage. A wine from the confidential Graves de Vayres appellation in Bordeaux, made by Yves Glotin (Château Goudichaud) who is also president of the Syndicat des Graves de Vayres. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (50/50). Fresh red fruit (cherries, strawberries) and spicy oak in the nose. Medium-bodied, juicy, round and fresh, well-structured without hard edges. Good length with retronasal red fruit and some spiciness. Well worth seeking out and good value at 14 euro. Abv. 13,5%. — 5 days ago

Terre des Aînés Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2016

Delicious. Pure purplish ruby. Seductive floral aromas of lavender, violet, black raspberry, mint and anise seed. Palate is polished, creamy, and weightless. Fruity and sweet, with a nice acidic twang and fine tannins rounding out the finish. So smooth! Drinks like a bottle that cost twice as much... worth stocking up on! Saten is the unique style to the Franciacorta and this version truly make me picture the Garda Lake
Not at all a "I want you to like me" wine even though softness is intrinsic to the category
Oxidative notes, quite austere and complex
It's hiding, it drink like a well aged complex Chardonnay a bit

V enjoyable. Plenty of fruit without being rich. Enough tannin to keep it honest. Nice on its own. Did not go as well with a tomato based sauce but not too much clash. Good value for $8 — 3 days ago

Susucaru Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese 2017

For sure some funk, but there is a vibrancy and just plain deliciousness to this wine that makes it work. Dark yet bright fruit, violets, and I always think this wine has a slight pickled cabbage smell, though that was way more apparent in the vintages I tasted a decade ago lol — 13 days ago

Gorgeous nose. Floral, cherry, red fruits, lemon, lime, smells like elite Champagne. The Pinot Noir shines through. Palate is a bit broad and all over the map. Good parts, and maybe dosage is also a bit high for my tastes. Meh. Maybe improve with air. Solid but inconsequential. — 15 days ago

First bottling for this Cesanese del Piglio producer, and it’s very interesting. Still young and a bit harsh on the tannins, but the style is lean and elegant. Not a typical Cesanese. Notes of Dolcetto-like dark fruit, crossed with floral Nebbiolo elements. — 6 days ago

Less flavor and more texture. Subtle, weird, and wild.

This is the pop album with catchy beats that open up to deep, intense, and thought provoking lyrics the more you listen. You want to say ‘meh’ but then you can’t. It’s the record you put on when you have a party, but the conversation is dull and a distraction is required without breaking the mood.
