Petaluma

Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2008

Typical Coonawarra mint - also cassis, hints of chocolate and blackberry. Sweet on the palate, the oak is dominated by the excellent fruit - great this way rather than the other way round. Medium plus intensity with supple tannins. An excellent Coonawarra Cabernet. Cabernet Sauvignon 60%; Merlot 31%; 9% Shiraz. First of 6. HH’s drinking window through to 2040. Bottled without filtration. — 6 days ago

Bevan Cellars

Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir 2016

If you don’t know Bevan’s style, it’s about as unabashedly assertive as Pinot gets. At 5 years age the Petaluma Gap Pinot is perfectly integrated, showcasing the intense, pure fruit. — 3 months ago

First, a point for clarity, I was referring to Lake Geneva in Switzerland 🇨🇭 I speak 6 month’s commuting from London to Grenoble. Always flew into Geneva and often stated there. Also did most of my snowboarding in the Alpes. Good times, but a severe nosebleed in terms of cost! Are you by the U.S. location? I’m not familiar with that. Thanks

Yep, in Wisconsin. It’s Chicago’s closest approximation to the Hamptons.

Interesting, I have a client in Wi. I was there all last week. Will be back again soon. Spell check sucks and blows sometimes!

Pellet Estate

Sunchase Vineyard Chardonnay

Pellet Estate Petaluma Gap Sunchase Vineyard Unoaked Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, California

Light yellow in color with a golden hue.

Fruity nose of citrus, lemons, apples, pears, light spices, light wood, earth, light herbs and white pepper.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with limes, light grapefruits, citrus, light peaches, light wood, earth, herbs and white pepper.

Nice finish with spices and limes.

This is a very tasty Chardonnay from Sonoma County. Easy drinking with a nice mouthfeel. Nicely balanced with a tangy finish.

Good right out of the bottle, and after 60 minutes of airtime it shows spicy notes.

This Single Vineyard feels like a fruity white Burgundy. A good quality wine.

Not sure why, but I definitely get light wood notes both on the nose and palate. Interesting and delicious.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with grilled salmon.

Grapes are grown at over 1,000 feet of elevation on rocky clay soil. Aged in stainless steel for 8 months. Only 276 cases produced.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

I have had the experience, too, of getting oak notes in unoaked wine. Never figured it out.
