Offerus Saint-Joseph Syrah 2020

Blackberry, campfire, black olive, black fig skin, roasted meat, graphite and iron. A beast of flavors compelling themselves over a medium body wine. Has lots to say. Served with duck breast, fig compote and seared brussel sprouts. — 3 months ago

Tenuta Caparzo

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

Smells like a forest of wonderfully dirty cherries covered in earth. Nice pipe tobacco and some sweet chocolate. This ‘10 is fresh a Tuscan Daisy, nice balance of acidity/tannin, and great company for herb rubbed flank steak with homemade black olive aioli. There’s some spice around the edges and a long finish to contemplate. Nicely put together. From a 375ml.

Domaine Jamet

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2012

A wine that I have had more than 2 cases & have enjoyed every btl. This is classic Jamet showing black cherry, red berry, bacon fat, olive, graphite, licorice, mineral & violet. Still a baby that will only get better over the next 20 yrs. — 5 months ago

Meaty, minty and peppery nose. Wow. So gamey and bloody. Pedal to the medal St. Joseph. Ultra traditional stuff here. Lots of olive and all on a serious granitic background. Palate is elegant and so refined but also has a wild side in that it’s super gamey, olivey and very supple and has good red berry sweetness. Really clean. These wines get cleaner every year without losing their feral edge. Very fine tannin. Also some youthful austerity. Needs air. I will be back. As this opens up exotic tea scents. Maybe oolong and Puer-eh. Great concentration and super silky and long. This is so good. 19 is also best vintage since 15. — 7 months ago

Great vintage for Allemand This had an intoxicating nose with dark fruit that was inky with a glycerin note, iron, meat, olive, pepper, savory spice & violet. Silky, balanced on the palate with a long finish. — 3 months ago

Still drinking well- I think this has hit its plateau; deep dark color with wonderful notes of Olive tapenade, blackberry and great acidity on the finish. — 6 months ago
