Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2015

The Willamette valley partnership. Great pinot, floral, hints of spice and cherry, very polished with great balance. Good to go but will hold its own in a cellar for at the very least another 7 years or so. — a day ago

Clos de la Coulée de Serrant Savennières Chenin Blanc 1999

Amber in color, drinking quite well. It’s a bit exotic, and alcohol is a little elevated. Bruised yellow apples, orange oil, a touch of oxidative notes, baked hazelnuts and acacia honey. Persistent finish. — 5 days ago

This was suppose to be a Friday night happy Champagne toast. But like Neapolitan, we drink Champagne in good & bad times.

We raise a glass in celebration of one of the greatest women of our time. Ruth, you were a true champion of Justice for the people. Rest in power. You have earned it. Can’t think of many more deserving. You wanted to hang in there for the people. We are forever sorry destiny had other plans. “2020, The Year of the Apocalypse!”
#RIPRUTH

It has been a long time since I’ve had a Nicolas Feuillatte anything and never had their Rosé until It was at Costco for just over $30. I thought to myself time to give it a try & grabbed one.

The nose reveals; black cherries, strawberries, deep, ripe, watermelon, pomegranate & cranberry juice, hints of tangerine & even less rhubarb, cherry kirsch, good presence of yeastiness, bread dough, baguette crust, oyster shells, sea spray, some white spice, watermelon Jolly Rancher/fruit roll ups, fruit tea, saline, grey volcanics, soft chalky powder, candied, red florals that are brilliant with pink & red roses.

The palate is; round, thick, rich, lush & highly polished. Micro oxygenation. The fruits are very ripe, deep and juicy. Black cherries, strawberries, deep, ripe, watermelon, pomegranate & cranberry juice, hints of tangerine & even less rhubarb, cherry kirsch, good presence of yeastiness, bread dough, baguette crust, oyster shells, sea spray, more white spice on the palate with heat, watermelon Jolly Rancher/fruit roll ups, fruit tea, saline, just a splash of herbaceousness stingy, grey volcanics, soft chalky powder, candied, red florals that are brilliant with pink & red roses. The acidity is round & lively. The long finish is nicely balanced fruit & earth with a long set of spice that persists minutes.

Serviceable at this price point but, it’s not going to replace my BSR & Ruinart N/V Rosé habit.

Les Grandes Places Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2016

Nose : Hand crushed wild blackberries. Pencil lead. Warm (not in a hot way) - caresses the nose.

Palate : whoa. Dense blackberry extract but not overdone. A hint of vanilla. Blackberry licorice. Terrific texture. Silky.

Finish is gods blackberry licorice. Long. So persistent on the palate it’s almost sticky but in a nice way.

On open a 9.4. Let’s see how it goes.

As this opens the balance and freshness become more extraordinary. This is a 9.4 today but will be much better in 5-10 years.

An hour in the fruit is much sexier and more giving. Very sexy. Luscious.

Bought from fass selections.

Chateau La Prade Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Nicolas Thienpont is a great winemaker at 3 Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classés Beauséjour HDL, Pavie Macquin and Larcis Ducasse +Grand Cru Classé Berliquet + a few estates in the Côtes de Bordeaux). This Côtes de Francs is probably the most humble in his stable, but it's a very serious wine. A blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, it features a dark red colour colour with a purplish rim, a complex nose with blueberry and strawberry fruit, flowers and cocoa powder. The fruit is packed in a tight ripe tannic structure, with balancing acidity and serious length. I would recommend to give this overachiever a few years of bottle age. Abv. 14,5%. Great value at 12,90 euro. — 10 days ago

Domaine Lafage

Cuvée Nicolas Côtes Catalanes Grenache 2016

Fantastic 100% Grenache offering with a regionally unique profile. Dry, dusty tannins command the palate while the harmonies of dense black fruit acid compliments a dark chocolate cherry profile. What a great food wine!! Source more pleases!! Cote Catalanes! (IGP) — 5 days ago

Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2014

Nose of dark fruit, black cherries, blueberries too, some floral hints and a touch of oak. The palate is firm bodied, there is power to go along with the acidity and even a little mineral side slightly, the finish is fairly long but a touch dry and firm. Good bottle but that needs time. 89-90
