I hope everyone is well? Tonight I have opened the 2017 Maison Roy & Fils Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley Dundee Hills, Oregon made with organic grapes.
On the nose there is bing cherry, raspberry, clove, floral notes, a good funk, mint, wet leaves and forest floor.
On the palate there is bing cherry, raspberry, cranberry, clove, spice, vanilla, violet and forest floor.

A rather lively purple color with distinct ruby undertones. Big ripe blackberries and bacon on the nose. Raspberry, fresh herbs, and smoke are present with just enough funk to say hello. Slight touch of olives and earth.
100% Syrah from Cornas may not be what you call a summer sipper but this can withstand a slight chill. There’s plenty of power and character here with smooth tannins and slightly bitter acidity. Very masculine and bigger than I expected. Full bodied and quite generous.
Blue and black fruits dominate the palate, mostly with blueberry cobbler and black currant shining. Stewed plums and licorice combine nicely with the sage and fresh herbs. Pepper and smoke on the longish finish. Cornas almost always delivers and this is no exception. — 18 days ago
Biodynamic Croze, typical of the appellation. Ripe and juicy black fruits, notes of pears, peaches, a hint of wood. The body is supple, with a nice gourmet volume. Roundness, suppleness and beautiful freshness. The finish deploys fairly characteristic minty and peppery notes, violet. Great pleasure.

Nice Burgundy wine, rather light. A nose of tangy red fruits typical of Pinot Noir (raspberry, redcurrant). Wonderfully conducted vinification, bringing slightly woody aging notes. The body is full, harmoniously blending primary and tertiary notes. The finish is developed, nothing more.
Joli vin bourguignon, plutôt léger. Nez de fruits rouges acidulés typique du pinot noir (framboise, groseille). Vinification admirablement conduite, apportant les notes d’élevage légèrement boisées. 7 / 9 of these have been ridiculoso. This was awesome. Still bright. Blind I would have guessed 2011 or 2010. That’s how good it was. I know he stores them cold and doesn’t release them until they’re ready, but why don’t more Domaines do this? I am sure he gasses them a bit but it works. Damn good. — 13 days ago
