The belle of the ball, what an extraordinary bottle of Napa Cab. I wish we still made them like this one, 12.5% alcohol and beautifully cellared, this wine was really shining. Elegant, balanced, classic and beautiful in every way. With some really interesting wines on the table, we kept going back to this one. I wish more people had the pleasure of tasting aged Cabernet from a benchmark winery like Phelps to experience how great they can be. Thanks, Mom for buying great wine and laying it down for nights like this. — 5 days ago
Opened long before it will actually show its true depth this is still a stunning bundle of black fruit. The oak and cedar overwhelm the bouquet at first, then cassis, blackberry, black cherry, and plum emerge. The palate is rich and creamy with very ripe tannins giving a hint of the longevity this wine possesses. Mint, cigar box and forest floor are beginning to show but many more notes will emerge with time. Lovely wine, classic Napa black fruit. Cabernet with just a dollop of Petite Verdot (5%) and Malbec (2%) for complexity. — 4 days ago
Full bodied, dark and inky. Nice spicy and floral aromas. Very luxurious mouthfeel. Dark fruit, graphite, cardamom, roasted coffee beans. In compartment to other 2016 Napa Cabs I’ve tried of this dignity I would hold on to this a few more years if I could. — 23 days ago
Very nice, Kermit Lynch is the man! — 19 days ago
Drinks more like old BDX than aged Napa. Soft as silk with an ample but not unpleasant helping of bret.
Pair with getting into a heated discussion with your right wing nut of a father who, when asked him to back up his assertion about “absurdly high public sector salaries” 🙄 with facts, responds with a personal attack. — 24 days ago
