Jérôme Prévost

Extra Brut Grand Cru Champagne Pinot Meunier

Disgorged in 2021, this new and ultra rare bottling from Prévost has debuted with the LC19 release comprised from grapes purchased “from sources that emphasize cultivated soils, low yields and full ripeness.” The base wine is a blend of equal parts Chardonnay from Le Mesnil and Pinot Noir from Puisieulx, at the northern end of the Montagne de Reims. Then, there is 20% reserve wine from 2018. While of course very young, it shows incredible depth and complexity today, and quite Burgundian and to no surprise, vinous in its expression. It flaunts a deep caramelized stone fruited profile with salted hazelnuts, curry leaf, gun smoke and lavender. The full bodied and satiny textured palate is just riveting with energy and it gives way to a mineral and saline driven finish that goes on and on. Wowza. — 10 days ago

Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)

Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Rosé

#kosherwineSunday

Pale salmon in color.

Strong nose of raspberries, strawberries, limes, green apples, minerals, yeast, spices and bread.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and small bubbles.

Dry on the palate with citrus, white cherries, strawberries, earth, spices, yeast, apples, pears and light grapefruits.

Long tangy finish with light almonds.

This is a delicious Rosé Champagne from the house of the Rothschild family. Nicely balanced with a great mouthfeel.

Loved the nose here, and the bubbles are nicely integrated and not intrusive at all. Very easy to drink.

Really good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime.

Elegant and luxurious, with nice complexity.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with Avocado Tuna Tartar.

A blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir. Kosher and not Mevushal.

12% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$110.

Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2008

Stellar. Toasted hazelnuts, lemon curd, methyl anthranilate. Super fine bubbles that take you to the still zesty ripe Meyer Lemon finish. I recall when we had a bottle of this upon release I preferred the freshness then. This has been stored in our eurocave since we bought it from the reps at a party @sigh in Sonoma (Highly recommended btw - Thanks Jayme!) Here’s to 20 more years Mia ❤️ — a day ago

PN VZ15 Brut Champagne Pinot Noir

Second bottle of 6…better than last, but….? Nutty, oaky notes deliver a pretty disjointed wine… very acidic( to a fault?). Not a great deal of sweetness or identifiable fruit notes. Tart, thin, racy, overly bubbly. Maybe a couple more years? Regrettably, I don’t hold out much hope. — a day ago

Les Vignes d'Autrefois Extra Brut Champagne Pinot Meunier 2016

Fragrant, sharp palate, massively mineral with searing lemon/lime notes, hint of tropical fruit. Vinous. Geeky and perhaps needs more time. I’d like a bit more elegance… wife loves it. — 10 days ago

La Cabane des Pissottes Coteaux Champenois Pinot Meunier 2020

Pinot-Meunier grape variety. More concentrated dress than expected. Fine nose, interesting, on vegetal notes, peppery, blackcurrant-griotte. In the mouth the acidity is marked, the fruit is respected. We are on a northern red wine with very fine but salivating tannins. An alternative to Pinot-Black or gamay.

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin

Rare Vintage Rosé Champagne

Starting with bubbles today on this hot summer night at just below a 100 F. Very refreshing, prickly acidity edged by slight hints of peach and cantaloupe and hazelnuts … I think. Not a connoisseur on Champagne. But I liked it!! Very balanced and easy to drink. — 7 days ago
