Francois La Pierre

Pierre Péters

Cuvée de Réserve Brut Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay

Had this in late 2019, this is a new batch, a Fav! Rodolphe Péters took over the reins of this venerable estate in the southern Côte des Blancs in 2008, becoming the 4th generation to lead since the estate was founded in 1919, under the name Camille Péters. 100% Chardonnay, Crisp, fine mousse with steady flow of bubbles. Citrus, and biscuit aromas. Fresh fruit flavors of peach, apples and lemons, smooth and dry. Long mineral finish ending with elegance. Nice! Consistent quality! — 12 days ago

Domaine Francois Lamarche

La Grande Rue Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1998

Tasted blind. Reddish scarlet center with reddish tawny rims. Spicy fruit nose. Dark cherries, rhubarb, Asian spice, dark soil and gravel. Comes across as masculine and powerful. The silky nose is followed by a young fruit and chewy mouth experience. Lots of dirt and cherries. We debate which region it’s from. Gevrey? MSD? Someone says it’s Vosne but I think it’s 95 Ponsot Griotte. This wine needs more time to soften its edges. — 12 days ago

Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin

Clos des Allées Sur Lie Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Melon de Bourgogne 2018

From old vines, pale lemon with aromas of stone and citrus fruits, made with Melon de Bourgogne grape. On the palate flavors fresh fruit, apple and lemon-grapefruit with attractive acidity, with richness from lees aging. Medium finish, ending with crisp fruit, citrus and mineral notes. Drinks well now. — a day ago

Pierre Gonon

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2016

Love every vintage of Gonon- the best St. Joseph IMO. So expressive and giving seemingly at any age, as it was here with 2016. My second 2016 in the last few months. Signature inky purple. Deep and intense with great texture showing black fruits, liquid minerals, newly bloomed violets, black olive and hints of cacao. Wonderful concentration, energy and finesse. Stains the palate with a long and assertive finish. Excellent. — 11 days ago

Château Pierre de Montignac

Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Color of dark purple, a bit cloudy. Nose of cocoa, black cherry, tobacco leaves, aldehyde, savory spices, oak, and plum. Nose is decent, with a slight too much of alcohol strength. Taste of good acidity, solid tannins, a bit peppery, black cherry, vanilla, slightly sweet, chocolate, oak, and quite dense and chewy. Aftertaste of some more cocoa, tobacco leaves, and good tannins. — a day ago
