The third and latest release of the Founder’s Reserve follows the tradition of the previous versions; a Bordeaux blend of sorts with a dollop of Syrah. Popped and poured; consumed over four days. The wine came across disjointed on Day 1 & 2. By day 3 it started to turn into something more interesting and Day 4 was best. Mostly blue and black fruits with dark cherries and figs, pipe tobacco, minerals, baking spices, a small touch of vanilla. Medium tannin. Medium plus acid. Finish is satisfying. A touch of heat on the finish but just. These need a few years to show their best. — 3 years ago
"this Top class Porto captures the full rich flavors which are the essence of this Founder's Reserve Ruby Porto. Served on its own in a large glass with cheeses or rich chocolate desserts, or as an aperitif chilled or on ice, both provide superb tasting options" — 10 months ago
Just the right wine for fried oysters, Italian salad, and a three mushroom pizza. — 3 years ago
Enjoyable port. Nice sipper. — 8 months ago
Well first off the was the 2012 vintage Syrah not merlot. Its a decent wine, good body. Dry finish. The original price I believe is 38 dollars and for that price there are other alternative wines that provide more of an experience. However, if there you can find this wine for the mid 20 dollar range it would be very good price and well worth the money. — 4 years ago
