Domaine Kumpf At Meyer

Dom. Kumpf et Meyer (Domaine Kumphu et Mmeier)

Utopiste Restons Nature Gewürztraminer 2019

Peach, orange blossom, hay, and lemon zest. Slightly sweet and floral at first, but quickly dries out with some natty funk. Bright, acidic finish. — 2 days ago

Pierre Gonon

"Les Oliviers" Saint-Joseph Marsanne-Roussanne Blend 2016

Stupendous, maybe the best Rhône white I’ve ever had. Pale gold, smells like tiny white spring blossoms, baked apple and Meyer lemon. Viscous, oily mouthfeel with more lemon and flowers, peaches, melon, honey, tea and marzipan, a little smoky on the back, somehow maintains great freshness through all of that. The Gonon St Joseph rouge is probably overrated at this point (I wouldn’t know, it’s been a while and it’s too expensive) but this might be underrated — 2 months ago

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2016

The 2016 Kongsgaard Chardonnay is a sensational wine that is showing its full-throttle decadence now at the four year mark. Once on the nose this takes on layers of vanilla Creme brûlée and butterscotch woven together with mango and pineapple upside down cake that all meld together in the glass. The palate is silky smooth and wonderfully viscous. Ripe banana and roasted pineapple intermingle with baking spice infused challah bread, and Meyer lemon creme brûlée flavors. Gorgeous to enjoy in its youth, this beautiful Chardonnay will cellar well for more than a decade to come. Drink 2020-2035- 95 — 3 months ago

Domaine Carneros (Taittinger)

Le Rêve Brut Sparkling Wine 2013

Always 100% Chardonnay, the 2013 ‘Le Reve’ is a tour de force from this storied Carneros house. The mousse here is highly refined. Salted biscuit aromatic tones grab your attention with Meyer lemon zest and shades of wild mushroom and toasted hazelnuts all take shape in the glass. The silly mousse is downright incredible. Bright kumquat zest and sourdough bread tones mingle with macadamia nut and suggestions of white truffles on this complex palate. This is salty and savory California sparkling wine at its best. Beautifully textured, with great length, this stunning new bottling will enjoy a very long life ahead of it. Drink 2020-2035- 95

Mendocino County Carignan Rosé 2019

Peach, orange sherbet, Meyer lemon. Strong acidity at first, fading as the finish dries out. Maybe my favorite rosé this year. — 3 months ago
