OMG comes to mind. Primary flavors of citrus, tropical notes, maybe honey and a waxy note and the acidity to keep it straight. Got to find more.! Great producer. — 3 years ago
Really interesting and complex. Strawberry jam, black cherry, coffee and a nice brineyness. Nice acidity and balanced tannins. — 4 years ago
midbar (🏜️ in hebrew) winery 100% grenache from mitzpe ramon.
20% whole cluster fermentation.
6 months in old oak.
the new winemaker in the winery was an assistant to Claudio Fenocchio in piedmont. and it shows.
14.5% abv yet so drinkable.
pale ruby 👀
mostly sour red 🍒with a splash of jam and a bit of dirt 👃
medium body.
medium plus acidity.
low tannins.
lovely 👄of tart red cherries, dried 🍓, raspberry, smoke, tar, that jam splash and a bit of earth, with stones and cranberry crushed in the mix.
medium - 🎯
what a lovely lovely silky surprise.
blind tasting i was feeling french tenderness of pinot noir(but that would be too expensive for my wine club) or maybe gamay. but it had the italian elegant boldness. i was confused and quite shocked finding out this 💎 is local.
paired ok with 'all purpose' green sauce made from green leftovers, lime peel, olive oil and garlic (nyt cooking) mixed with pureed 🥔 and my mom's turmeric grilled white fish.
such a great wine! — 5 years ago
Claudio opened his 90di reserva 2007 that's fabulously fruity with dark ruby and spice that makes me want to bite a slice of margherita pizza. Sweet jam and rocky flavor that lingers. — 8 years ago
From a micro-producer with tiny production. Super delicious! Smooth and mellow but with deep, well-rounded tannins. Tea, tar, roses, prune, cola, mushrooms. A bargain for this vintage and quality. From Flatiron Wines. — 9 years ago
dark ruby and a fairly reductive nose, this was my first experience with Freisa. red fruited but muted, lots of earth & forest, bramble - big on palate, grippy tannins yet a jolt of acidity. very unusual overall. interesting & cerebral - imagine this complements heavy tomato based dishes — a year ago
Aroma of blackberries you know will have tartness. Tannins hit you in the face, then the tartness comes through. A leather, tobacco, tar flavor lingers on your palette. Medium body — 6 years ago
Clear as a bell. Fruity nose — 8 years ago
Claudio Alario's first vintage of "Sorano" - and one of my most favourite vintages ever: 2004! Kudos for this effort! The nose is beguiling with wild flowers, spices and dried fruits. In the palate i get a juicy mouthfeel with ripe prunes, seaberry, licorice candy, roasted coffee & a bit of incense. Silky vivid tannins mingle with all this and make this wine have a remarlably beautiful balance. So good to drink now, but the this is just getting started! This wine to me is a reasln why I find that 2004 is a splendid mix between 2006 & 2007. — 9 years ago
So good. So good. I'd call it a great tv/dinner home vine. — 11 years ago
Deep ruby, and a nose redolent with aromas of plum, blackberry, black cherry, leather, forest floor and stony minerality. Plush, velvety tannins give the wine great body though it could use a touch more acidity to be outstanding. Really enjoyable and a long finish — a great bargain for this under-appreciated grape. — a year ago
Such a good friendly white — 2 years ago
A bit of peach, hay and melon on the nose. It's rather discreet. The palate is more appealing than what the nose could let you think of. A strong acid drive, some peachy and hay notes all along, a good width, some nice racy, vivid mouthfeel, an ample mid palate that powers up a ratherong finish with a tiny salty note in the very end. This is very good stuff and I need to revisit fiano quickly — 3 years ago
Crisp, clean, refreshing. A lovely delicious light white. — 9 years ago
This one needs a LOT of time, but patience is definitely rewarded — 10 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
100% Timorasso, delicious and somewhat rare as grape almost disappeared. Golden yellow color, interesting aromas of sweet stone fruits and very slight honey floral notes. On the full-bodied palate flavors of peach and very ripe apple with an oily texture. Long finish ending with fruit and honey mineral notes. Will age a bit. Very nice! Grab one if you can find it. — 21 days ago
