Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2012

The first of the whites at the Grand Cru Burgundy Dinner. Stone fruit on the nose and a little citrus. Grand Cru concentration, length and intensity, coming together nicely at 8 years of age, although still taut. Some toast and a note of mandarin. The importer, Ramon, from Negociants said this was from a 3 Hectare block using 50% new oak. Ramon said there were 4 bottles of this available for sale in Australia and all used up on this dinner. Very very good. I ended up buying a bottle of the 2017 which was a great year for White Burgundy. — 17 hours ago

Wow this wine is singing and it’s just a baby!! This is probably the most exciting Wine I’ve had in a while, meaning that it jumped out of the glass and kind of cast a spell on us. Classic white burgundy profile: apples, pears, rocks and some chamomile tea but also with this touch of lightning that makes it magic!  perfect with homemade chicken Pho but wd be perfect with many things 🌟❤️ — 3 days ago

Heron Lake Vineyard Chardonnay 2018

I literally gave up on domestic Chardonnay...but I love the flavor profile—Tart, juicy Granny Smith and ripe sweet pear. No discernible oak, light crisp acid/ fruit balance and ABV under 13. What a food wine! Every time I pop an Enfield, I congratulate myself on my perspicuity and good sense. It’s not hard to drink well, just ignore the big names and hype. — 3 days ago

Finger Lakes Unoaked Chardonnay 2019

A supple fragrance of leaf fronds and slight tropical fruits like pineapples, lychee, and mangoes. Finally some underlying pine aromas.

A little less balanced, but in a good way. Leaning towards higher acid, but the tropical sweet notes balance this out, which is a nice playfulness.

It looks stunning in a glass, and has that end note of unctuous salinity and the overall freshness of skiing through pines.

This wine also has floral notes of geranium and honeysuckle. Secondary notes include blanched almond, cream, cheese. This wine offers some tertiary notes of dried banana and dried apricot.

The wine has a medium (+) body, medium alcohol, and pronounced intensity of green apple, pear, stone fruit such as apricot, citrus such as lemon peel, florals such as dried white rose, geranium, honeysuckle, also wet stone, flint, almond, and dried banana. Very nice nose of stony fruit, light pastry aromas and such nice minerality. A very smooth yet vivid acidity with finesse, class and elegance, very small yet creamy bubbles, long delicious finish with that slight pastry and stony fruit taste, irresistible mixture of energy and class. 94-95

Nez aromatique et fin, brioché, fruits blancs, minéral. Acidité et tension appuyée tout en étant d’une finesse et délicatesse incroyable, bulles hyper fines tout en étant delicatement crémeuses, une finale très longue avec une touche briochée et cette minéralité irrésistible, belle énergie, quelle classe et quel délice.

The second of the Whites at the Grand Cru Burgundy dinner. So opulent it could be new world. Very fresh and lively with Medium + acid to go with that lovely fruit. Ticks all the boxes. A very long life ahead. More intensity and more voluptuous than the Bienvenues although to be fair comparing different vintages. A tinge of pineapple juice at the finish. — 16 hours ago
